A Republican Dynasty Based On Evangelicals.....What We Must Deal With In the Future

A dynasty based on religious evangelical fanatics?.......

Scott Reed, manager of Robert J. Dole's campaign in 1996, said few Republicans expected Bush to do so well, and said the evangelical vote was where he "really ran up the numbers." "This was part of their national strategy to play to the base, and that's what they did to close," Reed said. "They stuck with it. They didn't waver when there was a push from some in the party to move to the middle, and it paid off in spades."

********************

In Election 2000, over 40% of those that voted identified themselves as evangelicals. They are mostly southern based (what a fucking surprise). Bush has shown the Republican Party you can win with them as your main base. The Clinton years were prosperous and Bush really had no business beating Al Gore. But he did. And he got more religious fanatics out this year, and thats why he won again.

The Democratic Party is against the issues that these people vote for, so it CANNOT re-adjust itself to vote against, say anti-gay marriage bills, etc. Right now, the next ten years or so look bleak, indeed.

With the exception of holidays or disasters you'll probably not see GW step into a church or mention his faith much over the next 4 years.
