Check this out! Think I'll be sick! Today's Zogby Poll!

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews923.html

Current prediction is TIE!
251 for Kerry
251 for Bush

and this is what fucking blows me away.
SUDDENLY, Pennsylvania is a tie! (Kerry had a 5 point lead yesterday!)
BUT..VIRGINIA is also a tie (BUSH had a 5 point lead yesterday).

EVEN electoral-vote.com shows a tie:

Electoral-vote.com has New Jersey suddenly a tossup!
Kerry had a big lead yesterday.
How can polls fluctuate so wildly in 24 hours?

Because they sample such a small group of people (typically a few hundred). The ratios aren't representative enough (too many women, liberals, etc.), hence the wild swings. Electoral-vote is just using this daily polling data to predict electoral outcome.

Here's another bit from Zogby:

Zogby has polled Bush's job approval/disapproval rating in several states. This is often a key indicator of how an incumbent will do in his reelection campaign. An approval score substantially below 50% is indicates trouble ahead. Here are the approval/disapproval scores in some key states.

Colorado 46%/54%

Florida 46%/53%

Iowa 45%/55%

Minnesota 43%/56%

New Mexico 47%/53%

Nevada 49%/51%

Ohio 43%/49%

Pennsylvania 45/55%

Wisconsin 45%/55%

It's only in your mind when you know you're getting sick. I've practiced that since I was in my elementary days.
