I dunno, Wizzo.

Some of the seminars in June were definitely interesting to attend.

The problem is, they haven't announced who will be speaking and on what topics in January. You guys might want to hold off until they do, then you can make up your minds if something interests you

Just my $.03 worth.

I'm not saying they aren't interesting, I'm just saying they don't seem $125 interesting to me.

Most conventions I've been to, if anything really interesting is said in the seminars, it talked about by many afterwards for free...

Time is best spent networking and enjoying the show. Meet as many webmasters... sponsors... content providers as you can face to face. Oh yah... AFTERHOUR PARTIES... PRICELESS!

definitely agree the seminars are nice but alittle networking and yapping on the good ole icw will do the same.

Your paying for the networking opprotunities at the convention and or parties! Thats what its all about having fun, drinking and talking business!

Just like any other business some people play golf, we look at hot chicks, drink beer and do business with a hard on!

There isn't anything you'll learn in a seminar you can't learn for free elsewhere. However, for a newbie, they might be a good way of getting a lot of information very quickly. For someone more experienced, they offer the prospect of a guilt-free reason to get off your feet.

Actually I don't think the seminars are a bad idea for a couple of reasons --

First you get pretty accurate information in a setting where you can take notes, record it, whatever, free of distraction.

Then you also get to put faces with names -- so you've heard of Mr. Program Owner and maybe you even send him traffic -- well now you can see who he is and during the break or after the seminar you can probably get the chance to have a quick word with him. It NEVER hurts to meet people.

The other people you get to meet are the ones IN the seminar with you. If they are not board people or partyers you might not have met them -- and quite frankly you just never know who you will meet at a show that will turn out to be the one person that made it super profitable to be there. And believe me, there's always one of those

I don't go to the seminars because we are always working a booth, but for new guys it is well worth it.....after parties are ok but not everyone goes (mentioned above) and meeting people when they are sober is also not a bad idea.....

to me, most of the seminars are run by people that have webmasters programs. they are basically telling you how to make money and how you have to incorporate their programs.

ie. company x's president is the guest speaker for the seminar. he will tell you have to use comapny x's ads and programs on your sites, etc...

i personally think its a waste of time and money. but, thats just me. i've been around for a while and have a hard head

While in the seminars you are not out mingling but listening to the same stuff you can read for free on any one of 100 webmaster resource sites.

It's easier to copy and paste from resource sites than to have to take notes with a hangover at 10 am in the morning.

Topics from a recent seminar:

A Newbies Guide to Starting an Adult Website
Finding and/or Creating Content
Billing Options
Choosing a Host
Managing Traffic
Going Gay
The Amateur Revolution Surviving the Hard Times
Streaming Media
Shooting for Success
-----------------------------
