I don't want Oussama ben Laden to win exactly 3 years, one month and 3 weeks after 9/11. Because it is fear that gave Bush a blank check to manipulate you, to lie to you. Now you are stuck with this mess in Iraq, Bush has created a deficit for generations to come. Re-electing Bush would be inexcusable.. Your nation is deeply divided, I've been there. In 1995 we had a referendum in Quebec. The "YES" wanted to create a country for our nation, and we lost 49,46% to 50,54% We still have scars about that night.. I hope that on wednesday morning, you will be united again...

well if you look at the electoral votes you will see that most of the high poluplation areas in the US, are for Kerry. Bush has the support of rednecks and bible thumpers whom live in the sticks and still milk their own cows.

btw Bush will again not win the majority vote. He didn't win it the last time Gore did. Bush won the electoral vote and it's BS IMO. Only way he will stay in office is if he wins the electoral vote. In the last election 500k more people voted for Gore than for Bush.
The adverage American dosen't want Bush in office anymore than the rest of the world dose.

That means if a 3rd party candidate, like Nader, gets 1% in a few states, which he does, if one of the main two candidates do not win by a large margin then no one gets to 270. That means the votes are thrown out and the Congress elects thier President. That senerio presents even more serious potential problems as ALL candidates are involved in Congressional voteing. Say Republicans want to sneak in some ultra Nazi right wing type that NO voter would vote for, well then they could get him in with not a single American vote cast his way. That is just a rather extreme example and not very likely, but do you want to risk it? Even a change in the electoral system in the way your suggesting would require a change in the constitution or would require every State to agree to go along with it (all states can do whatever they want with their electoral votes), and that would never happen. But if you could get the change in the constitution then why not just get rid of the damn thing instead of try to "change" it. Not to mention I would not want to see uninformed voters trying to approve changes in the Constitution that need specially trained lawyers to understand them. I would much rather see a simple up or down vote on to keep it or lose it. |
