i know lots of smart people who will vote for Bush - i wouldn't but i don't call people dumb who have different political leanings than me. most people who will vote for Kerry or Bush are dumb - massively uninformed on the issues including Iraq. Majority of Americans still think Saddam Hussein is behind Al Qaeda.

Someone from Afghanistan attacked us.
Those bastards!
Let's go attack Iraq.
Why?
They have WMD's.
No they don't.
They are a threat.
No they're not.
They have links to the people who attacked us.
No they don't.
We uhhm... want to liberate the people?
Oh, ok then... go ahead.
Thanks, we did it.
We hardly lost any troops! Great work.
Thanks, we just lost 100 the next day, but it was worth it.
We did? And the next day?
100 more... we'll send more.
What? Why?
Because we will do what ever it takes!
To do what?
Win!
Win what?
I don't know... the war.
I thought the war was over?
It is... we won.
So uhm......
Vote for me?
Sure, why not!

I really don't like either candidate. But I think Kerry can't do any worse than Bush has in terms of running the country so time for a management change.

But I've talked to a lot of people who are behind Bush just for the fact they are literally afraid that Kerry won't protect the country as much. He seems strong enough to me so I don't understand why they think that.

Maybe it is time to try the dove approach and restore relations with our important allies instead of the war monger approach go it alone approach to everything like we've been doing.

The thing that gets me is how many Americans really think that the initial attacks happened for no reason... that there wasn't some cause behind it... that some sand dweller somewhere was just jealous of the "freedom."

And then... not only did the reason go over their heads, but they amplified it by trudging off to go invade countries that they didn't like some a school yard bully going for their lunch money.

How close minded can people possibly be?

Sadly, true... People in the U.S. , unless they study the world... hard... and question what they're told in school, don't realize the extent to which the U.S. government exploits and opresses other countries for its own financial gain.

I was lucky enough to study Political Science in college, so I got a glimpse into the real world.

How do you protect the country when you send the police, fire fighters, etc that are reserves. To the country that did not attack the United States and that did not have WMD's.

Our fellow Americans are stupid.

Besides John Kerry can ask Bill Clinton what to do. Bush only has Dick and Herbert.

Some people will believe whatever you tell them... Bush saying that Bin Laden attacked because he "hates our way of life" or is jelous of freedom is bullshit.

Anyone that would actually believe that is an idiot, and really should have no business voting when they don't know anything about history or world politics.

Bush is not telling american people the truth.
They know for sure why 9/11 happenned and they are hiding it from the american people in order to justify their war on terror.

When you vote, they normally give you a little sticker that reads, ?I voted today!?

If you vote for Bush, will they give you a little sticker that reads, ?I?m an Idiot!??

I don't vote because I think it's stupid to vote for someone you can't stand.... choosing one over the other just because they're your only options is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard. And I have yet in my lifetime to see a single person worthy of being president. And that includes this time around.

However, if I was going to vote, I'd vote for Bush based solely on the fact that the Kerry people talk so much shit, and it pisses them off.

Voting is a privelege people.... not a requirement. You're still free to exercise your right to not give a fuck.

I know you aren?t going to vote, but if you did, would you bring that axe (the one you will use tonight on skittles beggars) with you to the voting booth?

You probably wouldn't have anybody challenge you, your registration or whether or not you are at the proper precinct.

You probably wouldn't have anybody try to do an ?exit poll? with you either.

Maybe we should all carry axes when we go Vote!

who?

in case you hadn't noticed, I don't give a .03 cent turd about politics, politicians, or the people that analyze the shit.

But I do find it endlessly amusing how worked up people get over it all.

Maybe I will go vote after all.... you can pencil someone in right? I want to pencil in Robert Downey Jr.
He's a far better choice than either one of those two monkeys running right now.

Well, if you are going to make a comment about Kerry's people talking shit BUT you admit you don't give a shit. So you are talking out your ass with your comment.

Karl Rove is head of Bush's campaign. Thinks it is ok to lie, cheat, etc... to win.

But again, if you don't give a shit then you have no basis to say either one talks more shit than the other. Just typical Amp stating he is better and smarter than everyone else....he has all the answers.

All people need to do is read one of Bin Laden's transcripts. It's funny how the only person telling the truth is public enemy #1.

I support Bush because i think he is going to bring the Democratic Party back. All the dumb shit he has done, we will own the white house and the congress for the next 10 years.

4 More years! (and we wont have a republican president for a millenium)

With that said, you are an idiot because I'll bet you have no idea what Kerry represents and what his platform is. You seem like the ttype of person who will vote for Kerry just because someone told you to vote for Kerry because he will save porn. You just seem clueless.

As to who will I vote for? I think I have made it clear in previous posts that I will vote for Bush. I have my reasons of which I'm not about to layout here since I doubt everyone would be able to much less comprehend them.

so then you're saying that it IS a requirement?

and what is the penalty for not filling this requirement? Prison?

Voting can be revoked as well. That makes it a privelege.

Maybe YOU should do some reading, and try engaging your god given brain.

I said it's a responsability. Go ahead and read this, educate yourself a bit:

All systems of Government involve social contracts between the governed and the governors. In a democracy the contract is a complicated interaction between various institutions and differs in application from place to place. However in all democracies there are common elements. One of these, for example, is the rule of law: citizens accept and submit themselves to the enforcement of laws by courts and police. Voting is the same: as part of the democratic contract it is incumbent on all eligible citizens to live up to their end of the bargain. Just as a court summons creates an obligation for a citizen to appear, so does the call to vote. Waiving this obligation is an abdication of one's responsibility under the democratic system and it robs the elected of a proper mandate to rule. It hobbles the notion of democracy and represents a breakdown in that social contract.

Unfortunately too many view democracy as something of a menu, where many parts can be picked and choosen as they like. That erodes the very basis of the system, one of the key elements that allows the citizenery to exert their limited control over those that rule. If you fail to live up to that then you have no right to take issue with the results. Furthermore some argue free will allows for non-voting, which is obvious claptrap. Democracy does confirm many freedoms, but always with limits; and they also use coercion. You are not free to choose to shoot your fellow citizen. You are not free to abuse free speech to impeach someone else's character without basis. You are not free to speed as fast you can on the road. You must pay tax. You must obey the law. The idea doesn't stand up that not voting is allowed because of free will. Otherwise we are living in anarchy, not democracy. For those that argue that limits on freedoms come into play only when they impact someone else, not voting falls in the same category. By not making any choice the non-voter robs a democracy of legitimacy and thus affects everybody. There are many reasons people choose not to vote: antipathy or ambivalence to the candidates, laziness, ignorance, or a combination of these. None are legitimate excuses for avoiding your end of the social contract.

Regardless, it can still be revoked. That makes it a privelege.
And it is not required. The secret police aren't coming to lock me away for not voting. I am free to choose whether or not I want to participate in that ridiculous system of bullshit. I choose not to.

My statement stands. And you can try all you want to break it, but the truth cannot be broken.

Responsibility? Why? Because you read some bullshit propaganda sheet that told you so?

LOL

See, you are such an idiot you ask questions after getting the answers.

Do you have children? It's your responsibility to educate them. If you think it's a privelege, you won't go in prison either. You will simply ruin their lives.

Obvisouly, there's no way I can help someone who don't see a difference between a responsibility and a privelege from a society point of view.

so now you're comparing educating your children to voting. LOL

reaching pretty far aren't we?

Face it, you cannot deny either of these two things:

Revocable.
Not Required.

Responsibility? That is a self-imposed state of mind and has nothing to do with the facts. Responsibility for voting resides in YOUR eyes, by your choice. It does not reside in mine.

A few recent polls have shown about half of Bush supporters have their head up their ass. One poll showed 50% of Bush supporters still believe Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

Beyond all that, Bush has created hatred that this country has not seen in decades. He has done nothing but divide this country. He has recklessly misused out military, created a deficit that will take generations to overcome,
placed corporations ahead of people, and has done nothing to find a solution to the epidemic of diseases we find ourselves faced with. How anyone sees anything good about his policies is beyond me.

Kerry on the other hand I believe has the right idea of how the country should be heading. Whether or not he would be successful remains to be seen, but I don't worry about him getting us in misguided wars and fucking with the constitution. Any man that comes back from a war and has the balls to follow his conscience shows he is more of a man than Bush will ever be.

indigo,
just for fun, let's suppose for a moment that this was actually possible. Let's say your only two choices for president were, Charlie Manson or some random crackhead straight out of the dumpster.
Which one would you go vote for? After all, it IS your responsibility to go vote for one of them. Who would it be? And why?

The freaky nutcase of the century?
Or a crackhead with no mind left?

You have to choose one you know. There's no opting out of it.

Thanks, we did it.
We hardly lost any troops! Great work.
Thanks, we just lost 100 the next day, but it was worth it.
We did? And the next day?
100 more... we'll send more.
What? Why?
Because we will do what ever it takes!

I don't like to call people idiots, especially people I don't know personally, but seriously, it doesn't make sense to me to vote for Bush. I don't particuarly like Kerry, either, but why Bush?

This is how I see it. Why vote for a man who has been PROVEN to be a bad leader (numerous mistakes with Bin Laden, Iraq, WMD, etc.), conservative, outspokenly anti-porn, loss of jobs, taking us from the largest government surplus in recent history to the largest deficit in history, etc... when you can vote for a man with a clean presidential slate who MIGHT do a better job?

If someone showed you two doors and told you there was a man with a gun who would shoot you dead instantly behind one, and either another man who would shoot you dead instantly or a million dollars behind the second door, and one of the doors was made of glass and you could SEE a man with a gun behind it, which one would you open?

Most folks would just walk away, I would imagine, but what if you felt you HAD to do one or the other?

If you don't like Kerry, fine, but for god's sake, why vote for Bush when it has been proven that he's a horrible president? Just don't vote at all.

this is the kind of idiocy I'm talking about.

"you are an idiot because I'll bet you have no idea what Kerry represents and what his platform is."

Ok, so what I'm saying is that someone who still votes for Bush after all that's happened is an idiot... you're saying I'm an idiot because of a bet you'd make as to what you assume I might be thinking or what I might know. Not based on anything I do know or will do.

So we're left with what we started... I know you're an idiot by what you've admitted, you think I might be if I think what you think I might think but you're not sure because you have no idea.

you assume, I know... which one of us is the idiot?

good point. All the other candidates are homeless people and your voting for them is pointless because the other two are the dominant parties.

Now, which one.

However, if I was going to vote, I'd vote for Bush based solely on the fact that the Kerry people talk so much shit, and it pisses them off.

Voting is a privelege people.... not a requirement. You're still free to exercise your right to not give a fuck.

I will probably have more than 50 decisions to make on my ballot.

State Issues
Many, many Local Issues
Federal candidates
State candidates
County candidates
City candidates

Shit there will be a ton of crap to vote on.

I feel sorry for people who think ?voting? is just for picking a President.
