Mexicans clean their relatives dead bones today (pic)

If you need me today, I'll be digging up my grandfather and cleaning his bones.

Maria Euan, left, and her granddaughter Maria clean the bones of their relatives in the cemetery of Pomuch Town, in the northwestern Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, Friday, Oct 29, 2004. In this small village , the last days of October are devoted to cleaning the bones: dusting, polishing, scrubbing and rearranging the skeletal remains of family members in time for the Day of the Dead, when Mexicans welcome the souls of the dearly departed back to earth.(AP Photo/Jaime Puebla)

Harmon,

I totally agree with you. WHY? I live down here in Central Mexico.

The oddest part of today is to drive past a cemetary and see the carnival rides that have been set up and all the families with dinner spreads on top of the graves, chowing down.

A strange culture, indeed.
