I'm not a Bush supporter, but you can't really say that it's his fault the economy is not doing that great...There are dozens of reasons, some perhaps that Bush may have had control over, but over most he didn't...

You know, at least you wear your ignorance proudly. Some people in your country are involved in what's called trade. A low dollar means a higher trade deficit for you. I know you will never attempt to understand why this is extremely bad for you, but it is.

^wrong. Look at the economy under Clinton, that was just 4 short years ago. Yes the economy would have taken a hit regardless after 9/11 but Bush did his best to make it as bad as possible. We are now in the red, orange, blue.....fucking bull shit. Why didnt he do what any other president would have and said go on about your lives that is the only way to defeat them, instead of go inside oh shit they could be coming anytime.

Dude, please. You're really not that stupid, are you? Your dollar is worth a lot less than it was even 4 years ago. Takes more dollars to fuel your car, to heat and cool your home, health insurance, etc.
And if 100 million people havent been effected then lets hear your take on why personal bankruptcies and foreclosures are at an all time high.

I never had any problems whoever was leading the US till Bush came along.

It's probably very accurate to say the only support he has on this planet is 50% of the US population. The rest know he's insane, - they have nada doubt.

It's also damned disappointing to keep having utter ignorance constantly thrust in your face by some extremely stupid folks in the US. I seriously wanted to avoid that caricature, but it's clear there is more than a grain of truth in it.

How the hell can anyone in the US not know the economy is seriously screwed?? DUH? The rest of the world knows and this is reflected in dollar value.

From the above posts, it's clear some seem to think they are "immune" from any debt owing to others:-

With all respect to VetDay - if this is the way "many others see it", they are living in total ignorance and lala land.

The US now has the highest debt (pro rata population), of any country on this planet, and this is getting progressively worse each week. (*Every* living person in that country starts life owing $25K of debt)

Anyone know when the US admin plans to quit living off credit accounts with the rest of the world and settle up some bills?? Rest assure the "credit line" has started to dry up and will continue to do so, - it's reality time.

I don't give a damn who the hell the US people elect as a President - as long as it's not that ignorant and incapable fool with a big mouth, which the US people regarded worth voting for in the first place. That this happened, says a lot.

Financial control??? What financial control?? Have ya ever listened to the current US Treasury Secretary? An amazing bumbling idiot that utters crap like "Yes, it's all in the figures" and "it's a matter of checks and balances..". Unbelievable....

*Anyone* can do better - it does not matter if they are communist, conservative, Islamic fundamentalist, democrat, French, liberal or the manager of the local McDonald's store.

Unless there is a person with any degree of competence in control, it is sure gonna be a very bleak outlook for the US.

Cummon... get real and do *something* about getting the leader ya deserve!

Even during the great depression in the 20's, there were still plenty of people who lived comfortably. So to them, there never was a depression.

Just like now. I'm not out looking for a low paying job. I'm not being downsized. So to me, the economy is good....Plus it isn't just job loss. It's welfare reform also. A lot of people who didn't HAVE to work in the past now have to work and those low skilled uneducated workers have flooded the job market.

Shit like Macroeconomics always balances out one way or the other. There are still plenty of businesses during this recession that are doing VERY VERY well.

BigFish:

It clearly took some oversized imaged to say what the message was... namely an alleged quote from Bush:

"Jobs are created when the ecomony grows:
the economy grows when Americans have
more money to spend and invest"

The irony is Bush never wrote this, he is incapable of doing so.

How can you look to a person with a totally screwed financial track record and expect sense??

This is a man that screwed up his own businesses and left the State of Texas with a financial mess.

You are now letting him do the same to the whole country????

Is insanity the "norm" in the US??

BVF, you surely meant to say 30's. The great depression started in 1929.

problem is that we only recently became the 'dumbest country in the world'. run by rednecks...quickly becoming a nation of ignorant, easy-way-out, bullies. I mean, it's 'trendy' to like country music these days. WTF?!?!

Actually it's just the opposite. A weak dollar generally means US stuff is cheaper for the world and world stuff is more expensive in the US. Therefore a weak dollar means more exports and less imports, i.e. a lower trade deficit.

Bush may have fucked the economy however kerry getting in won't fix it. In fact if Kerry is elected there is a good chance the stock market takes a beating. All the financial analysts I've talked to have indicated they feel if Kerry gets in the Stock market is going to drop pretty hard.

Regardless of the stats, big companies aren't going to be happy if the democrats get in. Hence potential for the stock market to take a hit.

The market doesnt move based on how happy companies are, its based on people investing money in those companies and they will only do that if they are comfortable with everything from the economy to world events.

I'm not pro bush. If i were american I'd vote for Kerry. I'm just stating what i've heard. The US economy is fucked far behind George Bush's doing. A little something called OUTSOURCING is a major problem. The gap between upper class and lower class needs to be lessened. Americans are too greedy for their own good. The gap between CEOs and the average worker is more than 400 times no where in Europe is it greater than 40 times. What happens when you have a bunch of very rich people and very poor people? I can tell you it definitely isn't pretty. The greater the gap the more serious the problem for the US. I just think Kerry becoming president isn't going to change the US economy. It's in deep trouble.

Shap, you've bought into the liberal version of the US.
While there ARE very rich in the US, there are no very poor.
http://www.gmu.edu/departments/econo...here-poor.html

In 1995, 41 percent of all "poor" households owned their own homes. The average size of that home was three bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms, a garage and a porch or patio. Three-quarters of a million "poor" owned homes worth over $150,000; some of those homes sported Jacuzzis and pools. The average "poor" American has one-third more living space than the average Japanese, 25 percent more than the average Frenchman, 40 percent more than the average Greek and four times more than the average Russian.

Seventy percent of "poor" households own a car; 27 percent own two or more cars. Ninety-seven percent have a color television; nearly half own two or more televisions. Two-thirds of "poor" households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning. America's "poor" people aren't hungry, either. In fact, "poor" people are more likely to be overweight than higher-income people. The average consumption of proteins, vitamins and minerals is virtually the same for poor as middle-income children, and in most cases above government recommended minimums.

The rest of the world's poor would kill to live like America's "poor"

Some people still don't want to accept that the Clinton economy completely bombed.

If I was him, I would probably have done the same thing, ride out the economy and not do anything else. But look at all the problems that led to.

We are now in the red, orange, blue.....fucking bull shit. Why didnt he do what any other president would have and said go on about your lives that is the only way to defeat them, instead of go inside oh shit they could be coming anytime.

You live in lala land....

Your dollars is 1:1 when you live there. But the problem is when the US tries to import or export goods it is getting so much less for it's dollar it hurts.

You're right. The 20s was the "Roaring twenties"...

But since the depression started in 1929, I was "technically" still correct
