Health care has been like this decades before bush, put down your pipe this has nothing to do with bush

5% of direct costs, sure. What percentage does insurance cost though? Cumatively I'll bet it's moer than 5%. :2 cents:

You are incorrect. In fact, medical bills are one of the main reasons for bankruptcy. And of course medical past due accounts can and will show up on your credit report.

Next time just whip out the super glue and fix him up yourself!

Personally I couldn't care less if America had a socialized medical system.

HOWEVER, only if those who opt out and want to have their own insurance don't have to pay into it.

It's my pipedream :thumbsup

I don't know a single person who has filed bankruptcy due to medical bills. I know MANY people who have gone to the emergency room, multiple times, and never paid a cent. They own homes, have new cars, nice credit lines.

Nice smokescreen. Where exactly did I say Bush caused it? But since you brought it up whats your explanation for health insurance going up over 50% since Bush? Oh, almost forgot....its because of Edwards suing doctors....nevermind.

Wow..that is outrageous..I'm glad I live in Canada

SpikeHeel 10-25-2004 08:56 PM

It's so sad to know that hospitals nowadays don't accept patients when there is no downpayment. They make an assurance that once a patient checks in even for check-up only, will pay for the required billing which is quite high.

50 FUCKING KWAZY hospital charges

LiveDose 10-25-2004 09:03 PM

I just got a $51,000 hospital bill for my Dad's stay in July. You got off easy...

wyldblyss 10-25-2004 09:07 PM

The prices you listed makes me so thankful that I live in Canada. I took my son to the doctor last week to get his hernia checked and the doctor said that it had become huge and he has to get surgery right away to fix it.

So now I am worried about HIM and not how I am going to pay for it. I choose who our family doctor is, what hospital, what surgeon etc.

Doctors Visit - $0.00
Surgeon's Visit - $0.00
Surgery - $0.00
Hospital - $0.00

The only thing that will not be covered is his pain medication that he takes at home (it will be covered while he was in the hospital). We do however have insurance to help cover the medication. Each perscription costs us $5. Yep..total cost of his surgery will probably be FIVE DOLLARS.

When I think back to how many times my son needed stitches, how many times I have injured myself, the kids needed doctors care etc. it makes me wonder how parents in the U.S. without private insurance manage.

phogirl69 10-25-2004 09:41 PM

Well, I have Blue cross insurance and when I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed (entire procedure took only around 20 min) I had to pay around $1,200 and that was WITH insurance, without it, it supposedly was even more expensive. I'm not sure if I have bad insurance or what but everything is expensive.
