1. The Denim
Real Diesels have a very high quality kind of fabric. Compare a fake diesel and a real diesel side by side and you will understand what I mean. Often the fake ones are thicker denim (not always), but imagine oily thick cheap standard stock denim used in a fake compared to thin, kinda elastic, smooth diesel denim.

2. The Microstitching.
Look on the label. Under the "Made in Italy" there is a little white or silver lining. Look REALLY closely and you will see D I E S E L etched in there if the jeans are authentic.

3. The Rips
On a pair of distressed real Diesel jeans the rips will be hand ripped. On a fake pair they will be done by a machine and will all look the same. The real rips sometimes are more like scratches.

4. Take them to a store
The best way to see if your jeans are the real deal is to take them to a store. Be sure to talk to a denim specialist or someone with experience. I have heard of people returning obviously fake jeans and the stores never catching them. Supposedly there may be a dye inserted in the authentic Diesel denim that some Diesel stores will be able to identify.

There are a few more things to check for (but these things can often be found on fakes as well):
- A copyright symbol next to the Diesel logo on the coin pocket
- Diesel etched into the buttons and snaps.
- The little white tag that says the fabric should say ART. For example ART :796
- Also remember, authentic Diesels do NOT come in Poly Bags. Fake diesel's do.

Two more things.
- There are a few pairs of AUTHENTIC Diesel jeans. That say "Made in Romania". Believe me, I looked at them in the store.
