1945 Wheat Penny - Is it worth anything?

I remember a few years back that a person on the news was offering $500,000.00 for any pure copper pennies dated in 1945..Back then, I searched every penny I had in the house, and found one...but it wasn't copper..some other type of material.

Apparently back in 1945, copper pennies were very, very rare. Anyways, today I stumbled across a pure copper 1945 penny.

Anyone know its value? I may also be mistaken..

There is no S or P...i know what you're talking about though. I have a few other old pennies that all have "S" on them... but the 1945 and my 1952 don't have the mint.

I think it is the 1943 penny you are talking about...

http://www.virtualology.com/virtualp...ppercents.com/

All circulating pennies at that time were struck in zinc-coated steel because copper was needed for the Allied war effort.
Really all? NO!
About 12 examples are known to have been struck by the Mint, evidently by accident, when copper-alloy 1-cent blanks remained in the press hopper when production began on the new steel pennies.
The highest amount paid for a 1943 copper cent was $112,500 on December 22, 1999. Because of its collector value, the 1943 copper cent has been counterfeited by coating steel cents with copper or by altering the dates of 1945, '48 and '49 pennies.
