Content wise it's a toss up?

Sirius - Stern and Football
XM - O & A and Baseball

Anyway, both offer free online trials:

Am listening to O & A right now.

Sirius gets better reception. The antenna doesn't need positioning like XM's does, because of how their satellites are orbited.

Is it also true that Sirius is 100% commercial free and XM has some commercials?

I never heard any commercials on XM - sometimes DJ's talk but very briefly

I've heard this... I have XM but have never once experienced a problem. I drove from Denver to New Mexico (desolate) and didn't lose a signal once.

Sirus = stern

Just like cable in a few years you'll have 1 box and be able to subscribe to any offering or multiple offerings.

Back in the early 80's in Philly you had to get a single box for PRISM only, now look at the shiat you can get.
