Sure is a lot of booze!

Especially in the 30's - you *could* get drunk on that :-)

Who knows? It could be the usual "hype" - like when there is some "porn raid", they usually assess that box of porn vids and a few mags at a "street value" of 2 million.

Makes em feel like they have a job that is meaningful :-)

The thing is, a glass of beer was 13cents in the 30's.

If I remember correctly he was making about 15 mil a year when you consider inflation in our economy.

I saw a documentary on chicago mafia that actually broke down the city into territories and how much revenue they raked in each.

It is amazing tho if ya dig into any large construction project - there is often "bent money" in their someplace from stuff like drugs proceeds.

I can think of at least six massive malls to start with... then plenty cities, all with respectable banks and office blocks - all financed out of drug money.

I had a lawyer once... he puzzled me cos he was never at work, but always touring the world.

The only "clue" I ever got was some polaroid lying on his desk of a real shack with a flat roof, - obviously in some third world country. Above this shack was a sign "Banco de Con" :-)

About a year later, I heard my lawyer was "walking" no more - he was in custody :-) Turns out he was the "money sorter" for what is known as the "Brink's-Matt" robbery at Heathrow airport (London) in 1983. Who knows what the value was, but conservatively estimated around $70 million (US$126million)

He had been "investing" cash all over the place, - and sounds he did a good job and this is still producing massive amounts of money today. The base "core" of Dockland's in London seems to have come from his "investments".

Did he talk? Na... he's a lawyer and is being well cared for and living a good life

One of my business partners has one of Al Capone's cars. Its been restored to mint condition. The initials AC are on the sides. The engine still runs great too.
