I don't know of anyone here who owns a 7-11 franchise, but there may be.

I was thinking about getting on the Quiznos wagon until Subway came out with toasted subs.

No its not....take it from someone who was in the C-store business for a long time.

If you have the cash to get a C-store franchise then you have enough to buy a turnkey operation or something similar.

You're better off opening a McDonald's than "Jim's Burgers" for sure...but in the gas station/convenience store business branding isn't as important......people shop where its most convenient so there's no point in giving 7-11 half your profits (plus you have to eat all the inventory shrink and cash shortages out of your end)

I see. I did ask because here in Sweden, about half of the shops did a negative result the year of 2002. ( Many of the owners are forced to put in about 80 hours/week because they don't have the funds to employ people)

Here they has also left the "Swedish Franchise group" which should be a warning sign.

( Was on the business news today)

i think a subway would be great, a lot less work than a 7-11. I thought about one, some years ago.

Had some friends in the Bay Area that had 7-11's and they worked there ass's off. And you can not just hire someone 2 run one, you'll go busted.

A couple had one for 25 or 30 years, they made a lot of money but worked 7 day a week. She got shot once in the arm. If some can't show up for the late shift you got 2 work. Sold it for a ton

Other friends were from India, they had 3 store's and made a lot of money also. They had plenty of family 2 work in the stores.

If you can put up with ass hole's ( the public ) and ready for working a lot of hours.

most are open 24/7 ever day

Yes if the location is awesome, but for the most part I would have to say No. I know a few people that have tried owning one and it just didn't make them any money . The rents were to high and they had to follow to many rules and regulations from 7-11.

I have a very old friend of the family that owns a few in LA...but I think most of his money comes from other stuff, ie the other properties he owns...

as long as it makes you some profit and doesn't tie up a majority of your time to manage it should be well worth it...

best thing to do is go do some homework on where you would like to open one, local economy and location play big rolls in biz like that...

Yeah and the thugs will shoot your employees for whatever cash is in the register.

Plus, your employees will steal 100 times more than the customers.

I worked for 7-eleven for awhile.
They run a tight ship and well polished.

As always in retail it's LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

If you are a working "Manager" then it can be quite a bit of work.
Lots of hours initially until you get your core crew going - LOTS.

Subway would be a good one. Or if it is cold where you live, a coffee shop.

If you have that kind of money to buy a 7-11 you should rather buy a Subway franchise.

One of my friends has 3 and makes bank.

I went to school with a guy whose father owned a 7-11 in an upper-class neighborhood, and they made quite a bit of money. He said that selling lottery tickets was one of the most profitable part of the store, ironically.

Ok you have a lot of things to consider but I would suggest you do a little research and see what is lacking in your area. If it's a 7-11 then open one and you will make a profit but you won't if your area is oversaturated, So do the research and be prepared to work hard and you will do fine...

Think long hours of work, you know 24/7. Exactly like working online except that you can't sleep in and work with your pajamas on.

It's like running a donut shop. Sucks.

i would say no. gotta worry about people staealing shit. getting robbed. whatever. something food service oriented might be better.

but finding the right people to run a good store is always hard.

Convenient stores make a ton of money but I would never buy a franchise.
