You can get some good deals, and they tend to be the most consistantly reliable shipper I've ever used (and we ship quite a bunch of crap around the country). However, they are not good at "custom" in terms of varying pickup times, some days you have stuff, some days not, etc. You can also get "pretty good" tracking w/ USPS.

Otherwise use Fedex, which is more expensive and has other problems but we use them a lot. They deal MUCH better which "custom" stuff, custom pickups, last minute shipments, etc. Their tracking is the best by far of all the companies, but their drivers can be lazy assholes. Luck of the draw on the latter though.

UPS I stopped even considering after their drivers did "drive by's" here a couple times. Meaning they SAY they attempted to deliver a package, but never happened to you know.. show up at the door, or leave a note, or anything. After 3 or 4 times of that happening we simply said fuck 'em.

USPS is good enough for most small shipments. For luxury items, I'd go with Fed Ex.

I use fedex most of the time fast and good priceing

for Ground packages the best is FEDEX GROUND
For OVERNIGHT we like USPS EXPRESS

For packages to canada FEDEX GROUND again is the best. Takes around 4-5 days. Sometimes even faster then Express delivery.

Never use DHL for domestic. They are misplace lots of packages. When we used them for our Ground services we had to reship around 10% of all orders because they were delivered to wrong addresses. Then also when they try to make delivery and the customer is not there, all other companies leave a note. DHL in 50% of the cases never did.

I prefer FedEx for international shippings. They're the best when stuff is stuck at the customs.

Nasty D 10-19-2004 09:50 AM

hard to beat the cost for international @ the us post office, and they have prepaid postage and free pick up six days a week for domestics:thumbsup

OK Fed ex is great if you know it blah blah blah has to be there overnight. If it is anything that is heavy I like to use UPS ground. USPS is a bunch of bullshit. Now DHL is going off I think they are actually doing a telemarketing campaign offering 1 free package under a certain weight shipped anywhere in the US for free to try them out kepp an eye on them I know already they are cheaper than Fed ex or UPS.

Good Luck

For light packages, go with USPS.com. They are usually the cheapest.

Don't use mail if its adult - you'd be risking a felony charge. Yeah, maybe a small chance, but why take the risk?

UPS used to be the only way to go for cheap ground, but they are expensive as shit now. A single dvd from east to west coast costs like $9.00 and takes forever to get there.

FEDEX ground is actually much cheaper in cases like that, so do your homework before choosing.

After thousands of shipments with UPS they actually haven't lost one yet, I just don't like the high price. I'll probably start using FEDEX ground for some shipments.

Comments are based on light shipments - usually for heavry stuff UPS is cheap.
