You can't be serious.

You really beleive the cable company will allow you to steal their signal?

Get serious.

This is from first hand experience after being in the business for many years.

It is illegal plain and simple.

And if I remember right as far back as 1992 the cable companies were trying to make it a federal offense so I would be real careful if I were you.

If your cable company is anything like ours here, you are wasting your money buying a "hacked" cable box.

They regularly send out signals that kill the chips, so just pay the cash if you want it that bad.

I have a black box, it's never been shut down and works really well.

I watch the Spice Channel on it.

Not really, okay you caught me, I was trying to act cool. I secretly watch Sex and the City on it.

"Bullets" are an urban legend.
The cable company would not send a dangerous signal thru their system to our homes, potentially damaging TVs, VCRs, electronics.

But then again, maybe they do.

The tobacco companies knew.

Gosh so when is the thread going to start on our plans to knock over a bank?

We can let the newbies have one on robbing 7-11's since they ARE, afterall newbies.

Does anyone grasp that discussing ILLEGAL actions is an act of conspiracy? And you give the courts the evidence to convict you IN writing here?

Now I remember why kids should be seen and not heard.

You're better off getting a "chip enabled" satellite box. My buddy has one -- picks up TONZ of well known and little known networks as well as foreign channels.

I used to work as a subcontractor for comcast.

1) Bullets do exist - they do not damage working equipment and they do not work as well as they used to.

2) Despite what all the ads say - it is illegal to own one in most states. http://www.state.in.us/legislative/i...ar45/ch13.html

You can try all the legal mumbo jumbo you want. If you get caught - they will find something to charge you with. Theft of service, conspiracy to steal service (between you and the manufacture of the box), whatever. You are fooling yourself if you think you can't get in trouble just for owning one.

3) The good ones are not easily detected, and 99% of the people that get in trouble for them - get in trouble because of informers.

4) They do work - and if you keep your mouth shut and don't tell your friends - they probably will never find out. Some can be detected with a device called a TDR. This is very expensive and they have no need to use these most of the time.

5) The majority of cable theft does not occur by using these boxes.

here is an article that is pretty funny.

And if you beleive that I have a bridge to sell you.

Actually when I did run a company that sold these boxes that is exactly what we told the customers and even went so far as to get a signed piece of paper saying the customer had permission but when the business got busted, and it did, the prosecuter asked the jury if "we beleive that any of the buyers had permission" and we meant himself and the jury, of course they said no and that was the end of that.

The cable company usually does not waste time going after the individual user but with a case in New York a lot of people got busted. Individual users. This is going back to 1991 but it is still valid.

Indy I really don't think you know what you are talking about, which is just like 99% of the American public on a subject like this. Don't beleive what you read nor what these companies tell you.

If after this thread you still want to buy one, just look at the ad section of a magazine like Motor Trend and you will find enough companies to choose from.

There is nothing like first hand experience.
