For something secure, talk to your financial advisor about debentures: secure, fixed % but your money has to be locked in for a number of years. The higher the years, the higher the %.
Hydro Quebec had some a while ago that were paying 8% But you money was locked up to 2015. Its up to you mate... Definition for those who wanna know a little more: Companies can issue a series of debentures or debenture stock which essentially means secured loan stock. The document or instrument creates indebtedness owing by the company to the holder, usually carrying interest and maturing on a particular date when the principal amount is repaid. Debentures tend to be secured by a floating charge and/or a collection of fixed charges over the company's assets. |
Not no risk but my accountant highly recommended GIC w/ stock options. She said she's averaged 20% over the years.

Some solid old money private wealth management firms that handle international clientle.
Bessemer Trust (Phipps Family) http://www.bessemer.com/ Wilimington Trust (DuPont Family) http://www.wilmingtontrust.com Rockefeller & Co. (Rockefeller Family) http://www.rockco.com JP Morgan Private Banking Group http://www.jpmorgan.com/pages/jpmorgan/privatebank |
I have a project in Costa Rica that includes an operating and established hotel, casino, bar, restaurant and titled beach front (private beach).
130% return on investment over 5 years via 26% dividends per year. At the end of 5 years you can convert your shares to common stock, sell them at fair market value or covert them to debt financing buyout. Deal secured by land and other hard assets. If absolutely no growth was shown, the ROI over 5 years would be 230%. |
It's very simple ...
Join, or sit in on a meeting at your local real estate investors club. Tell them that you have to money to invest. You will easily find people there willing to give you anywhere from 10-35% return on your money. Best of all, it will be backed by real estate. I have a friend that became a multi-millionaire many times over just having local realestate investors use his $$$. No work involved, except for signing a few docs .. ;) Don't overlook the power of the advise I am giving you! The best part is once they pay you back, you will have formed a relationship, and they will want (read: beg you) to repeate the process .. simply lend it out again.. |

FYI, the best rates are never posted; whats posted is for your average joe investor. When I was working at Nesbitt we could get our clients 50-100 basis points more then the posted rates on GIC's and B.A's. Same thing goes for mortgages. We partnered up with a real estate finance company outside the bank who would beat any quote for one of our clients if we aked them too.
You've got lots of coin I gather so just ask your banker/advisor what they can do for you. They should be able to beat anything available to the general public if they know what their doing and consider you a 'valuable' client. |

Seriously though, I don't recommend just going out and purchasing an investment property. Invest in some knowledge first. |

Sorry, but this makes me laugh. Are you really satisfied with 2-5% returns? :1orglaugh |

CIB 512 is the symbol. For every 350,000 they pay you $1800 /month. |

Is this a guaranteed mutual fund or is there risk behind it? Got a link to more info about this fund? WG |
if you invested $20000, and the rate was 3%, would that earn you $600 a year?
is that how it works? |

Same with "financial advisors" - dangerous people! Quiet.. I'd have to think about spreading money, not just within one country but elsewhere (I don't "trust" one country!*s*) and also looking at real estate if you want higher returns. There are several places where real estate has increased 30 fold over five years and no signs that this is levelling - it's only upwards :-) |

I'd offer you 14% on $500,000. Total interest and pricipal due in one payment in 5 years. :)
Interest payments paid twice-yearly and total balance due paid in 5 years. |
