George Bush's *true* views on homosexuality

Bush: You know, Bob, I don't know. I just don't know. I do know that we have a choice to make in America, and that is to treat people with tolerance and respect and dignity. It is important that we do that. I also know in a free society people, consenting adults can live the way they want to live, and that's to be honored. But as we respect someone's rights and as we profess tolerance, we shouldn't change or have to change our basic views on the sanctity of marriage.

Reality:

Bush ?Reassured? Christian Conservatives He Wouldn?t Appoint ?Open Homosexuals.? During a September 1999 private meeting with the Madison Project - characterized by American Prospect as ?a clique of religious conservative power brokers? - Bush said that as president, he would not appoint open lesbians or gays to federal posts. Madison Project chairman Mike Farris said he was ?reassured? by Bush?s answers to questions about homosexuality, and that he believes Bush has ?genuinely conservative views ?in his heart? about homosexuality.? Farris said that during the meeting, ?[Bush] said I?m not going to appoint people who are open advocates of the homosexual lifestyle because their policies aren?t likely to be my policies on issues.? Madison Project member Rev. Peter Marshall said that Bush told the group, ?Rest assured... I would not appoint somebody to a position who was an open homosexual.? [New York Times, 4/9/99; Dallas Morning News, 10/22/99; Atlanta Journal and Constitution, 1/18/00; Chattanooga Times, 10/8/99; American Prospect, 1/31/00]

Bush Said He Wouldn?t Appoint Anyone Who Supported Gay And Lesbian ?Left-Wing Agenda.? In 1994, Bush said that while he wouldn?t ask a potential appointee if they were gay before he appointed them, he wouldn?t anyone who supported the gay and lesbian ?agenda.? Bush said, ?If there is a political agenda that I am uncomfortable with and do not agree with, they?re not going to get appointed... that would include an agenda pushed by the gay and lesbian lobby. It tends to be a left-wing agenda. I am a conservative.? When asked whether he would appoint someone who was openly gay but not politically active, Bush said, ?I don?t know what that means.? [Ethnic NewsWatch, 11/25/94; Houston Chronicle, 11/15/94]

We live in a sexual dark ages and Bush is part of the problem with his "faith based" sex education initiatives.

He has to go - the problem is I am not convinced in the overall picture if Kerry is the right one to replace him.

It's aaah ... I don't know.

confusing

there's alot of illegal shit going on
a GOP sponsored company for voter registration has been shredding Democrat registrations and Oregon I believe opened a criminal investigation, Nevada is next...

Somehow I feel the debacle of Florida 2000 will pale in comparison to what happens after Nov 2nd 2004

Kerry isn't perfect, but Bush is definitly not perfect - he lies, fabricates shit all the time, the white house is the most secretive administration in history, they pressure and intimidate the CIA, and the journalists and anyone who's not on the prez side

Bush should just start saying that Saddam is gay, which will give him the justification he needs to arrest all gay Americans in the name of national security.

Gay people could be the new terrorists, all you gotta do is spin it right.
