anyone else ever have an allergic reaction like this?

so, i get home from the social distortion concert with what looks like a few bug bites on my right arm...little spider bites...but they are not..lol

i wake up tuesday morning with this

i went to the emergency room tuesday night and they gave me an iv with benedryl and some steroids, and it seemed to subside....until this morning

i woke up with it worse than ever......i started my prescriptions they gave me (steroids and zyrtec) and it is gone pretty much now

but FUCK, that shit sucked....over 24 hours of total itching all over my body...i thought i had some disease or something...i had never had an allergic reaction to anything before...much less my body covered 100% in what you see in the pic

glad it's over though, and sorry to those that called or tried to get ahold of me....i wasn't up for any phone, email or icq...i was ithcing too damn bad!

I used to work with a guy who had something similar happen to him. He was never able to figure out what the cause was but it was gone in like 2 days.

DAMN!
Glad you're feeling better, dude, that looks like some shit to go through.
My daughter is highly allergic to mosquitos (another reason we're moving out of Fl, lol) and she gets knots under any bite she gets, and it swells and gets blood red with an ulcerated center, gives her a fever and even respitory problems. Very scary when it's on your infant.

did you do anything different that you can remember? change detergent, eat something new, or drink something new? seems like a topical or food allergy reaction.

those hives can be from nearly anything... but usually it's from stress.... I know it's happened to me a few times, never to your extent but the 3 or 4 times it's happened to me I coudl relate it to stress. Even though I didn't feel stressed I knew I was in some stressful situations.. ie the day of my wedding... the weekend I was going to propose to my wife... hell on that one I even had a heart condition even went to the doctor.... benedryl will work but it'll make you one sleepy mother fucker!

Geeze, Jace!!

New soap? Shampoo? Detergent? Fabric softener? Sheets? Clothes? Furniture?

If you can't figure out anything you've done differently, you might want to go as far as getting your water tested (there's a state agency that does it for free/low cost, but I can't remember....google).

That looks rough

we changed all that shit out...i did figure out though that I bought some new detergent last week..ALL....but I am not sure if I used it yet...

but there was a sheet I was sleeping under that was causing a lot of irritation...and that sheet is now being washed, along with every other piece of clothing and bedding we have in the house

lots of washing going on right now...i just wish my dryer worked as fast as my washer...

It looked like that.

That place, the Tabernacle, sounds like a pretty cool place for shows. I don't like any of the places they played in my state this time around. Here's a pic from Orlando HOB:

It's shitty- taken from my camera phone.

Get some of the Aveeno oatmeal anit-itch bath stuff and soak in the tub Unless it's the water causing the problem of course - then that would be a bad idea.

did you happen to take any advil by any chance that day? My wife just found out she was allergic to ibuprofin and she swelled up and had to go to the emergency to get shots of benedryl, adrenaline and a muscle relaxer to help her out.... but it's weird because she can take it and it won't happen and sometimes it does... just has to be the right circumstances... something else to think about!

ok, but I was saying earlier she can take an advil and just be fine.. she could do it 100 times.. but there might be that one time with the right conditions and she'll have an allergic reaction... if you can pinpoint what exactly you were doing like moments before the outbreak... ie. took a pill, ate a strawberry... anything.. it's usually almost instantly when you have a reaction... not like hours afterwards like if you think it's detergent.. it would have almost and instant effect on you.. not like you slept on them all night and when you woke up it started...

i can tell you this....right at the moment I noticed the first two little spots on my wrist that I thought at the time were bug bites...i had just started drinking my 2nd pabst at this local bar here...and I also just had a shot of gladschlager

i have been reviewing in my head all the things I did that night, and honestly, there are SO many things I was exposed to that could have had an affect

i am just glad it is over now, and I am prepared for next time...but I just got back from my general doc and he now put me on zyrtec permanently....
