Kerry is betraying the effort to make a democracy out of Iraq. The Muslims do in Iraq what they have done several times before, especially in North West Africa, killing their own people to soften their enemies. If the USA stay firm it can be democracy in Iraq, but Kerry is doing exactly what the terrorist are manipulating him to do.

Face facts, Bush has played right into the hands of the terrorists. He's done exactly what Bin Laden wanted after 9/11, and he couldn't have made a bigger mess of it if he tried. Don't worry, keep your eyes closed and go vote Bush, the sensible people are smarter than that. President Kerry will fix the clusterfuck Bush caused in Iraq.
How can you pretend to say there will be democracy there when the US is building 16 permanent bases? Stop listening to pundits, there's a whole big world outside of what they tell you on TV. The attacks are never going to stop, that's what the dumb and the blind have yet to grasp, these people don't give up. They'll fight the USA for generations. Kerry's plan is to train the Iraq army and then get US troops out completely, if you don't see how that's the right thing to do, well it's time for a history lesson.Comment

Is it prefferable to have a president and administration lying to you and changing the lie to fit the headlines?
Give us a break with this bullshit.
Condy rice said the only use for those aluminum tubes was to enrich unranium. Last 2 weeks we got the intelligence documents she was working from when she made that claim. The documents say the most likely use is for mortar rounds, and it was UNLIKELY that they could be used to enrich uranium.
Thats one example where we took it up the ass with no lube.
Just give us a fucking break already.Comment

I do not see why people will think this war will end, look at history itself. That area has known war almost since time began. Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. The best thing to do would be to train Iraq to deal with Iraq and then pull our boys out.Originally posted by Gynecologist

Bush has in a way played into the hands of the terrorrist, they will continue to kill and then spin it where the blood is on the hands of America as a whole as if we the people of America were allowed to vote on this or something.
But if Bush or Kerry plan on cleaning this up by planting the seeds of freedom and then showing the leaders of the area how to make that seed sprout and then leave the garden it is the best resolution for this problem.even ADULTS need TOYS

If a free election were held in Iraq today, the secular Iraqis would vote for Saddam, the Muslims would vote for an extremist leader. No matter how you slice it, democracy wasn't meant to be in Iraq. Westerners have a pathological dislike of dictatorships simply because they love the illusion that democracy gives them. They foolishly believe themselves free and in power when in truth they are often just as powerless as those living under a dictatorship. How can you free another nation when the shackles are around your own limbs?Comment

The scary concept for me, in pulling out troops and leaving Iraq is the fact that Iran is now aware that Iraq does not possess weapons of mass-destruction, and does not have the capability to defend itself against a major assault, it's been proven Iran has been trying to destabilize Iraq, via Al-Sadr, and it is possible they were behind the killing of several Sunni clerics, the majority of muslims in Iraq, are Shi'a Muslims, the same sect of Islam as the theocratic rulers of Iran.Originally posted by TheLegacy

Saddam understood that threat well, when the Ayatollah siezed power in Iran, Saddam had the Ayatollah (Al-Sadr's father) excuted, in order to show that wasn't going to happen in Iraq.
I hope if we do leave, we do leave them with all the weapons they need to defend themselves, however it is more than likely if Saddam hadn't used chemical weapons in the first Iran/Iraq war he may have lost, I doubt they'll have the option to use those anytime soon.Comment

a few years ago americans didn't give a shit about iraq, people talked about how we should nuke the country. now americans want democracy there for what? they're not going to give us shit, just costing you and i tax money. that drives me crazy how americans are pro iraq now when a year ago we were blowing up the country killing innocent people and no one could careless.Originally posted by monro

to touch on another post, we can't pull troops out. if we did the entire world would bitch slap the US for blowing up a country and just leaving it. for the next 10 or so years Iraq OwNs the US we can't do shit about it. we wanted this war now we have to repair and fix it. and anyoen that thinks a country can achieve full democracy in 10 yrs is crazy.Last edited by acctman; 10-14-2004, 11:23 AM.Comment

Not even realizing that perhaps not only will a democracy not WORK in the middle east, but many Arabs don't WANT a western style democracy.
Ironically the ONLY Democracy in the Middle East is Israel!

Anyone who's lived in the ME knows that you can't become a leader of a ME country if you don't have US support. It's a given. Democracy, my ass.
People in Egypt organise protests against Mubarak, but who gives a damn? He's an ally, so is Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Pakistan and many other tyrants.Last edited by Roger; 10-14-2004, 11:32 AM.Comment

Why don't people like yourself who want to bellow "FIRE" about political things like this NEVER, I repeat NEVER have any SPECIFICS to go along with their generalized attacks?
Hmm..could it be because you don't HAVE ANY?
