    Bandwidth..Hype or Pipe???

    Why is it that all these hosting companies advertise all this Pipe when they only have a few servers on someone elses network? Does anybody besides Candidhosting even own their own network. Let me know!!!

              lightning, I think he meant to be a "real" host you need to drag in your own few OC3's, and peer with everyone yourself. A few cages in level3 is not a "real" network according to him. Bah.

              It takes real knowledge to keep things going in that setup, you need to configure switches and routes to be fully redundant, etc. Also probably have some auto-failover servers so if one fails, no one notices. It's just plain stupid and pointless to buy your own pipes now to some location in bumfuck whatever, when you can buy some space at a level3 like facility and have a MUCH MUCH better datacenter, and network availability.

              By all means, it's still definitely NOT cheap or easy to do the *right* way.

                  Our little network has over 2,250 megabits per sec. At&T leases space from us. We host a couple of little guys like smutserver and ARS, and CE's free stuff. Not trying to piss anyone off. Just want to let everyone know Candidhosting will beat anyones price and we have built a hosting facility that is second to none and completely paid for. We also have Candidcam and the Voyeurdorm, Dudedorm etc. We have been around hosting our own stuff for years. Would like to share the wealth and help everyone make more $$$$$. Host somewhere else pay too much!!

                                                                                                                                                                  level3, verio and above.net kick ass with few hops and low ping times worldwide (not only US), and I always take care to be on one of these, no matter what the host is (well that matters as well)

                                                                                                                                                                  As for ARS, their webmaster area and the tour pages aren't fast in europe, maxcash for instance is much faster, all the time, since years... I think they should move to a level3 host sometime.

One of the best things about them is their service. It rocks.
