Juicy: Dell has recalled the power adapters. I know you had to have noticed the overheating. This pos burned a mark into my plastic chair mat.

What model is this? my new Dell I picked up in May is a Inspiron 1100 and I've noticed my power supply gets pretty hot!

I had a compaq that lasted over 4 years before it gave out on me this April and I love my Dell now

2.4ghz
512 DDR
30 gig (wish it was bigger)
CDRW/DVD
Wireless

anyways sorry to hear about your dead laptop but go with a compaq or Dell and you'll be happy

I cant seem to find any of those #s on my adaptors, but i'm still going to give them a call later this week. I believe they ship you out a new one upon request.

I have been using a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with the Pentium M chip as one of my main pc's for over six months now and it works great! I even do video editing on it when it's connected to the docking station at my desk. It's pretty fast and has good battery life too.

They only real problem that I have with Dell is that to get it fixed you need to send it to them, unless you got that great service package where they send someone to you.

Oh, by the way, they DO NOT have service people in all areas, so becareful with that. They do not service the area where my ranch is, so I would have had to take it to a shop. that would have sent the tech to me, but they did not drive that far.

HP is a great laptop, and you can take it to bestbuy to be repaired. Buy it online from HP and the prices are lower.

I agree for the Dell!
