Laptop with screen attached, dual monitor possible?

I most likely will replace my desktop with my laptop as my primary work station. Now when i attach my 20 inch lcd on my laptop, will it take over the laptops screen or will it be a 2nd monitor? It would be awesome if i could use my 20 inch as the main screen and the laptop screen as my 2nd screen.

you can configure the settings in the display section of the control panel to make the 20inch be your primary monitor

I would say it depends on the video card. If you have an ATI, you can set it up anyway you want. 2 displays showing the same desktop, two diffrent desktops or one desktop split over two displays.

Should be possible indeed, depending on the vidcard in the laptop..

Ultramon can be a useful piece of software.. I use it for my 2 17" screens
            No sig.

                That will do
If you can't get it working you should get the latest Control Panel from the ATI website.
