Yes he gave a LOT more than providing entertainment as Superman during his life and will have helped thousands with his push for getting spinal chord/stem cell research developed sooner rather than later.

Originally posted by pussyluver I grew up watching super man (a differnt actor of course) . I am sadened by the event, even if he was "just" an actor. Actually he was more than that. He gave people hope.
I grew up watching George Reeves too as the original superman.. that was Christopher's father .. they say he commited suicide, but others say he was murdered. I really liked that guy.
My husband met Christopher Reeves at Killington Ski resort a long time ago, before his accident.. he was sitting at a bar alone, so he sat down and started talking to him, then asked him for his autograph. Christopher said no very rudely.. that he didn't give out autographs, then turned around and ignored him..
He probably was tired of being recognized.. who knows

I'm struck by the sadness I feel from this news.
He was such an inspiration to so many people.
