Watching that video was one of the saddest moments of my life.
Over the past days, knowing that the two Americans with Ken had been beheaded, I knew he would get the same treatment from these ill-informed, pathetic monstors.

They are killing Westerners in the name of their God, yet they are killing 10 X more of their own at the same time - A huge contradiction. They care not for their own in the slightest - I know the City where Ken comes from very well - Many Asians live there - One thing I really worry about is an anti-Asian backlash where inocent Asians are either beaten up or killed simply for being Asian.

I also worry that more of these evil acts and more suicide car bombs are going to start happening in other cities and countries.

At the time the Iraq war started, I agreed with it thinking that revenge for the mass murder of the Iraqie Kurds was long over-due. But now, I can see that was wrong. Much more effort should have gone into rooting out Bin Laden, his henchmen, and the many groups associated with this kind of terrorist.

Once America does pull out of Iraq terrorism will still continue. America was not in Iraq when two jets flew into the world trade centers. Terrorism will always happen and will never stop no matter who is at war where.

This is true - One Westerner killed for every Ten Iraqis they kill. This is from Yahoo news today (10/10/04):

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Car bombers struck twice in rapid succession in the capital Sunday, killing at least 11 people including an American soldier, as Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld warned that violence may increase before the January election. At least 16 people were wounded.

Sounds about right. 11 dead, only one of which was an American.

Whilst revenge is a human emotion, your plan would only lead to the rise of insurgency, the 'feel good' feeling of 'liberation' has worn off in Iraq, after the nice pictures on TV of Saddams statue was toppled.

One of our first fuels to insurgency in Iraq is the feeling of hopelessness, an Iraqi with no job, no electric and lots of time on his hands is going to use that feeling of having no future, to fight whom he feels is the enemy, and unfortunately that is us.

Creating jobs, and restoring utilities and spreading a feeling of properity would do more to destroy insurgency than any M16/A2 round, or bomb could do, the only people this would not help is the 'terrorist' insurgents whom came to Iraq for Jihad, and those should be dealt with by the military.

The Geneva convention does not afford any protection for insurgents that do not make themselves identifiable from the general population, they would have to be readily identifiable (e.g uniforms) from civilians in order to give them any protection under the Geneva convention, likewise places of worship and hospitals can lose geneva convention protection if they are being used by the enemy to fight from.
