Holy shit, this router stuff is fucked up, nothing works, someone help me please.

As you may have read in my other post i have a new wireless router installed.

Outlook express wont connect to my mail server, AIM wont connect, i cant ping sites (give error) and remote desktop also doesnt work!

I added the necessary ports in the router and that didnt help. I even opened up the whole router for this puter and that didnt help. Im still pretty confident its the router because i dont see what else could block all these connections.

Anybody any clue whats going on?

did you remember to tell the router to clone the MAC Id for you nic card?

It's in the router web interface, and it's not hard to overlook it.

Did your ip change? Maybe do a ipconfig / all or something similar if you got a different os.. and compare your router settings.

Linksys solution:

This problem is usually caused by an authorization problem. To resolve the issue, please follow these instructions:
1. Open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1/Filters.htm into the "Address Bar".
2. You will be prompted for a username and password. By default there is no username, and the password is admin. Once you type in the password click OK
3. Once you've gotten past the log in you should be at the filters tab.
4. Click on the Forwarding tab
5. Once the "Forwarding" section opens, click the Port Triggering button.
6. Once you've done this, a new window will appear. Here is an example of how to fill out the ports:

Application Name
E-mail
Trigger Port Range
25 ~ 25
Incoming Port Range
113 ~ 113

7. Once you've done this hit Apply, then Continue.
8. After the settings have been applied, you should be able to use e-mail normally.

DHCP is turned on.

Also i just noticed this option turned checked:

Association control Wireless clients with A checked can associate to the wireless LAN; and allowdeny unspecified MAC addresses to associate.

Is that important or wrong?

its basicly a list you configure with mac addresses of wireless clients you want to allow onto your router. if the mac isnt put in the list, the connection wont be made

This is what I do for a living. linksys constantly has firmware issues. Update the firmware, make sure you get the proper firmware or you will have a paper weight on your hands.

ipconfig /all
again and then ping the default gateway

btw, does it work atall if you use a cat5 cable instead of wireless or is that even an option?

your best bet is to
get a cat 5 cable and see if it works from your computer when its directly connected
update the firmware on the router
hold the reset button the router and restore the factory settings
take it back and get a linksys
i havent heard much about sitecom so i dont know about their quality

I may not be a expert on domains but I am a expert on routers plug directly into the router with cat5 ehternet cable if that works then check the wireless card out if it does not you are going to need to download the firmware and upgrade the firmware.

No sharing other than the 2 puters attached to the router. No firewall.

i dont know what to tell you
everything i see about Ping Transmit Failed, Error Code 65 says zonealarm, even microsofts website
if you dont have it installed i dont know what the problem is
try connecting your computer directly to the cablemodem and see if that works
if it does, then its the router, if not, its something on your computer

The Windows Firewall thing is a bitch. I had no idea it existed until it started fucking things up when first plugged in my wireless card.

You said "no firewall", but is Zone Alarm installed (but not running) on the computer? or has it ever been installed and then uninstalled on that computer?
