do you have internet connection sharing or the windows firewall enabled? zone alarm?

No sharing other than the 2 puters attached to the router. No firewall.

everything i see about Ping Transmit Failed, Error Code 65 says zonealarm, even microsofts website
if you dont have it installed i dont know what the problem is
try connecting your computer directly to the cablemodem and see if that works
if it does, then its the router, if not, its something on your computer

The Windows Firewall thing is a bitch. I had no idea it existed until it started fucking things up when first plugged in my wireless card.

You said "no firewall", but is Zone Alarm installed (but not running) on the computer? or has it ever been installed and then uninstalled on that computer?

Unbefuckinglievable! OMG if you were here i would hug you for 2 hours. I had Zonealarm turned off but non uninstalled. That was the problem. Everything works now.
Such an easy solution.
