what kinda router ? it prolly has some gaming/appl tab
look for port range forward and set them to aim and outlook, ive only set 1080 for MSN, nothing for AIM though so thats weird just do something like this Port Range Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enable FTP 20 to 21 TCP UDP Both 192.168.1. 100 X for every appl you wanna run POSTEDIT : DONT set appl to proxy etc etc just the normal connections, ive checked AIM just the reg data no proxy set, thatll do it

I have a wireless Netgear router/firewall and the address to the admin is http://192.168.0.1
It should say in your manuals how you can get to the admin. |

I think AIM uses port 5190.
Maybe your firewall is blocking high numbered ports? People usually leave higher numbered ones open. Try adding that one. If you still haven't figured out how to get into the router admin, try going to http://192.168.0.1

It doesnt seem to be a router problem since i added the ports and it still wont work.
I googled the time out error i get and a lot of people seem to be having similar problem suddenly out of nowhere: A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'xxx.com', Server: 'xxx.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19 I read about several solutions like disabling virus scanners and other things but still i cant get it to work and its freaking me out. I just wont connect to my mail server. |

Id try and figure out the AIM problem first. It should be simpler to debug than the email problem.
Got any error messages from that?

Battus - I still think its the firewalls. To be sure turn the windows XP firewall off. Then look and see what IP your router is asigning your PC and put that IP number in the router's DMZ. That would open every port so you would know for sure and progress from there.
got aim, msn, or (reluctantly) ICQ ? On a pc thats working (of course)
