Yup that's the whole point, they determine by your content what ads to show so you don't get to choose unless you call deliberately making a page to target specific keywords choosing.

Don't have really obscure content though as they won't be able to find any/enough ads for it and will serve up public service stuff unless you specify a replacement banner

I guess you could work backwards and look at the non adult adwords with the highest bids and build a site around some of them.

I believe you said your site was aimed at Webmasters so as long as no adult stuff you should get plenty of ads shown for Hosting, Affiliate and marketing stuff.

Just throw up some adsense code and see what comes up. As long as your site is indexed already the ads will begin right away

I certainly don't profess to be an adsense expert, just been playing with it for a few months on some mainstream sites.

Yes that's what I meant but it's kinda catch 22 if you are gonna feed it with SE traffic. It will be harder to get your site listed higher for competitive keywords and without enough traffic you won't have many visitors clicking on your adsense ads.

As I said before if you have an existing non adult site put adsense ads on it right now and see how they go and go from there tweaking it and putting other sites in the mix.
