Domain Drop Test: Round 4

Here are the results from my 4th domain drop test for 09.24.04
links to previous drop tests are below. 30+ domains including:

trainingcourse.com
usgovernmentjobs.com
govloans.com
subscribers.com
famousquote.com
invitations.net
hoodriver.com
mkd.net

» For this "domain drop" test, I placed domains into the following drop services to see which service is most effective:

? Pool: $60 paid only if caught, if multiple people bid, the sealed bidding begins
? GoDaddy: $18, but only 1 backorder per domain, paid in advance, and get credit if not captured
? BlueRazor: $13, owned by GoDaddy, same rules
? NameWinner: minimum $30 bid
? SnapNames: $60 paid only if caught, if multiple people bid, then 3 day auction.
? Enom's ClubDrop: minimum $10+reg free, if multiple people bid, then 3 day auction.

I was able to get exclusive backorder at godaddy/br for SOME, so this was NOT a perfect test. Here are the Drop Scores:

? Pool: 6
? GoDaddy: 3
? BlueRazor: 1
? NameWinner: 1
? SnapNames: 0
? Enom: 21 (got a few for under $20 which was less than my bids at pool/sn/nw)

Glean what you want from my test. Remember, it pays to backorder everywhere.
Here's a sampling of who caught what domains:

? Enom: trainingcourse.com, usgovernmentjobs.com, govloans.com
? Pool: hoodriver.com, invitations.net, famousquote.com, subscribers.com, mkd.net

Some domains that GoDaddy, BR & Enom picked up for me are probably worthless to many, but I need them for future plans... so I did have them backordered at namewinner & enom for $30+ each, and even a few for $60 at Snap/Pool so I was surprised that GD/BR worked at all.

? GoDaddy: tennisbusiness.com, fishbusiness.com, dreamtones.com
? Bluerazor: channelware.com
? Enom: geneticsbusiness.com, propertypulse.com, urbantoys.com, charitycalendar.com, lightkeyboard.com, + more

So for the 4rd round droptest: ENOM was the winner in terms of how many they caught for me, but in my opinion tied with Pool for quality of caught domains. If you're considering entering the domain drop game, make sure you read all FAQs before playing and keep an eye on closing bid times. Some services bid before the scheduled drop, some afterwards. For those that want to test the waters of the DOMAIN DROP game...and for those that care:

Here is a short list of domains dropping TODAY (9/25)
you can use the search functions at namewinner and pool to look for more.
nap.net
jgc.net
oor.org
efj.org
jgr.org
wkd.org
boc.org
rjk.org
aih.org

thanks. but the list of mixed-race girls you've dated outshines all this domain info.

Any tip about Pool's auction round? I guess waiting to bid the last moment is the best right?

since they've changed their format I focus on other drop sites. the sealed bid process is terrible.

yeah, i understand. I'm 50min way from an auction. I had 5 domains there and my sealed bids were high enough, but I made it to only one. I can already see people bidding very high amounts....

Could you tell me which registrar you're mainly using at the moment considering that you register lots of domains?Had bad experiences over the years with most big ones.

godaddy.com has been good to me.
$8.95
but if you sign up thru buy.com's coupon link, it's only: $6.95
http://registrar.godaddy.com/default.asp?isc=buye0804t
warning, if you plan on using the domains to spam, godaddy will delete the domain or give you hell. otherwise, free locking, global changes, easy to push to other accounts, etc. good luck. don't know how long the coupon will last.

enom's good too.
many people will also recommend moniker.com

I didn't make it into next round for any of them. I choose not to aggressively play the sealed bidding game, though I did try to get into: prizefighter.com and mtp.com, but my bids were too low. lol.

I got less than 100 domains at godaddy at the moment because I don't trust them too much.

I'm thinking about opening a tucows reseller account.I'm paying 6.95$ per c/n/o there through EV1 atm but the interface is crap³.

HoodRiver.com was caught by pool.com and there is less than 3 days left on private auction. sealed bids only. no one can enter a bid unless it was on your drop list for yesterday. Now everyone sees why the domain drop game is so addicting... you never know what you're missing out on.

If I get it, doubtful, I'll email you.

Hey taboo I know you probably have some private resources for this but since i'm just starting out in the domain game. Are there any good resources to see a list of domains that are to be dropped with possibly # of backlinks and whatnot?

I use my own tools but I doubt you'll find lots of people referring you to resources that are effective. since I can't link to other boards, go google for domain forum(s) and see where the links on those sites lead you. if I still decide to make my tools available for free, I'll let you know. good luck.

Thanks for the incredibly informative post Taboo.

I've always been hesitant to use drop services, because some of them make it impossible to figure out just what their rules are ... i.e., if you don't get the name, do you still pay, etc etc.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback.

It is a very exciting and frustrating game to play. Very lucrative and addictive. and will consume you... completely. It was hard for me to slow down, but I still feel like I'm moving at lightspeed.

good luck.

and make sure to keep checking out this thread, where we list lots of sold prices for dropped domains, plus auctions, etc.
