ITs actually a modified VW bug frame.

I read it in R&T like two years ago I think, it was before it hit the market

Either way, I sure did enjoy the vid clip of that H2 busting it's pussy ass tie-rod on like a 6 inch drop

You "read" it lol
Yes tie rods break when you offroad.
Take alook at what the video doesn't show you here:
here

Find me something that wont break if you make a wrong move here....and i'll buy it.

Definetley. Nobody buys a dodge viper unless they want attention. The car is probably the most tiresome workout to drive. No one would drive it for pleasure. The only pleasure derived from driving a viper is the 0-60 and the looks at the stop light.

True GM owns AMC/H1/H2 now. However they have a seperate factory these things come out of. They aren't sitting on an assembly line next to Chevy's

Far as it's Tahoe. I know that it has a similiar chassie it sits on however drive a Tahoe and an H2. The H2 would rip a Tahoe new one off the line. I drive both on a daily basis. No one would mistake the two.

But trust me my H2 draws more looks than any car I have driven and I have driven a lot of nice cars.

I dont' care if the H2 is a Pinto in disguise. You can't find this kind personal publicity in any other car.

It's essentially advertising is what it is. People watch TV, see celebs with their Hummers riding on 22" chrome spinners, and think that if they have it, they'll be just as "cool" and pretentious.

Sure, I'm hating on the H2, considering I have a Prius hybrid. :1orglaugh

hova 10-07-2004 01:38 PM

I like it, but its useless here

Read the post's within the thread there are a lot of refrences to H2 being Tahoe with a different body. I was arguing that point not the topic. The cars demographic is impossible to argue without real stats. Going on what you see on the street is really not a good way to gauge if it's primarily women or men..

How are we going to get real stats about the % of men/women drivers of Hummer H2? You cant go by who buys the thing... because guys buy a car for the wife all the time.

Nanda 10-07-2004 03:00 PM

I love hummers! But I like H1's better!

Semi-Retired-Dave 10-07-2004 03:03 PM

I have seen a lot of females driving them too.
I too own one but the ony reason I really like it is because I don't drive it every day. I don't think I could.

But it makes a great SUV for those camping trips.

Moose 10-07-2004 03:18 PM

I bought one for myself.

But it is hard to keep it away from the wife :) . And I'm sure it is the same for others.

Lets see your tahoes do this:

Like I said it's not something you can really argue because we do not have the demographics.

I've had both hummers. The H1 is great if you live on a ranch. The H2 is great if you dont. The H1 is an offroad brute. The H2 is a luxury SUV with some pretty good offroad capability built in.

You people spend too much time stressing over what other people like.

I sold my H2 last year and bought something even better. So you go have fun in your girl shoes or insert some other immature halfwit remark here.

And for the rest of the ignorance here...It is far from a Tahoe.
While I will not get into specifics, The Hummer is one of the only ready to go offroad vehicles anywhere that needs no mods to get you anywhere you want to go.

H2's 122.8-inch wheelbase is almost seven inches longer than a Chevy Tahoe's, while its overall 189.8-inch body length is nine inches shorter than the Tahoe's. On-road, the long wheelbase helps smooth out the ride; off-road, it helps prevent pitching in rough terrain. This is just a fraction of the difference, not including traction controls,E-Lockers etc...

My Hummer sees just as much offroad in the Anza Borrego Desert as it does onroad here in San Diego. No Tahoe is going anywhere near the places we go.

If you want to compare anything, the Escalade is a Tahoe.

Trouble is, that means nothing to these people that buy them and put 24 inch rims on them. That's one thing I never understood... Buying a vehicle designed for offroading and basically crippling it by putting these giant wheels on it.

I would love to have one for offroading too. I'll have to stick to my Z71 for now though until I win the lottery.

I bought mine to lower and put 24's on. I have put nearly $5.000 in chrome. It's never been in the rain or on a dirt road.

I have other cars for rain and offroad.

Note: my hummer gets 16 miles to the gallon. But thats because it's super charged to 550 HORSEPOWER

I usually don't waste the breath to argue a subject like this with someone who has his affiliate links in his sig. It's just pure hating.

So what did you get instead of the H2? I was thinking some months ago of getting one. Saw one lady down here in Boca driving around the parking lot for 15 minutes looking for a space she could fit in. Kinda turned me off of it. Did you have those issues?

Edited to add: Hater = Detoxed
