Ricky Williams wants to play football again!

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7769927

Does he really miss it?

IS it due to the fact he has to repay 8.6 million dollars to the Dolphins?

Will he give up weed and other drugs?

Will he be as good as he once was?

Lots of questions going around.

How do you think the NFL will handle this?

Will he get some special treatment since it is well known he has minor mental issues

After the statements he's made in the past, I'd say it's pretty clear he's being forced to play. Lame, but maybe next time he won't have Master P negotiate his contract.

Yeah the Master P thing was a joke.

He has said a lot of things in the past that have not made all that much sense, so we shall see what really happens!

The 2002 NFL rushing champion stunned the Dolphins when he retired just before training camp in late July. Steinberg declined to discuss his client's change of heart, but on Sept. 24, Williams was ordered by an arbitrator to repay more than $8.6 million to the team for breaching his contract.

A Dolphins source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the team's understanding is that Williams can't play this year because of his drug-program violations.

umm have you seen them this year? They'd kill to have him there, without him they may go 0-16.

That is not totally true, he may just end up with a 4 game suspension. It depends on how it goes down.

He may not miss the season!

Teams can be forgiving. Many players get suspended for many reasons and the team gets over it.

Look at the Ravens Jamal Lewis is going to be gone for four games and they won't be that down on him.

Ricky has some mental issues, you need to understand that first

As a miami fan I would welcome him back with open arms, we need all the help we can get down here. 0-4 is simply embarassing.

Unfortunately my hunch is if he comes back he'll be traded immediately.

If i was Miami i would not touch him. He left the team high and dry for his life style that he lives now . He is a great running back but you dont just shit on the people who depend on you. That was a shitty thing to do!

agreed what he did was wrong and I was highly disapointed over it. However with our current coaching staff and offensive line I can surely understand why he left.

meanwhile we gave up two first round draft picks for him, if we trade him now we'll be lucky to get anything back.

In case you don't keep up on Miami we're on our 6th running back this year. the guy was cut, then signed to the practice squad and is now our starter. We need Ricky.

It's oct 15th actually, for some reason I thought I was after week 4, but yes it's very early compared to most sports. Way better if you ask me, I hate the fucking NHL trading at the end of the year.

I am a Dolphins fan from way back. My wife and two sons love them as well. I want to see them win as much as the next guy really, but I think him coming back to the team would mean not only are they playing pathetically this year, but they would LOOK twice as desperate and pathetic then they really are.
This is a bad year for the Phins, but I think it would look better to go 0-16 with some intergrity, then to cow down in desperation and bring this worthless piece of flesh back on the roster. It's not like if he comes back now the team would make it to the playoffs or anything. They'd blow with him or without him this year. I say make him pay back the 8.6 Mil. it'll help his recovery and provide him an excellent oppurtunity to reflect on his descision making process.

The worst scenario is the coach and GM trading ricky for more mediocre players when all they are trying to do is save their jobs.

This isn't about hugs, kisses, and respect. This is a rich mans game and you better believe they will put all of that aside if it comes down to making more money.

HOPEFULLY, he'll come back to the dolphins so we can trade him for another solid runningback and other solid players. God knows we need a bunch!

He's a fucking idiot. He's lost so much credibility in this league. EVERY team in the nfl will think twice before picking someone as unstable as this fucking guy. Outside of the recreational drugs he does, he takes medication daily for his anxiety disorder. This guy is a mental midget. He's running back to football so he doesn't have to declare bankruptcy as a result of paying the dolphins back $8.6 million.

The guy submitted his retirement papers and went through that whole process. He should have to sit out a mandatory minimum of 2 seasons to give him time to think.

Where's accountability these days? Pathetic.

Maybe his mental problems drew him over the edge. He made a few fuck ups, people made errors in judgement all the time and don't get that much heat for it..

Look at Michael Jordan, he retired from the Bulls after winning 3 championships in a row. Then came back a couple years later and no one cared.

Dom Hasek retired from Hockey, yet came back and everyone was happy. Star players always have other options to weigh out, but when they come back most are welcomed back with open arms.

For Miami fans it will be simple, if he rushes for 100 yards and two td's they will cheer and say thank god he is back, if he fumbles and rushes for 50 yards, they will say what were we thinking go smoke more weed you loser. The way he plays will determine how most fans look at him.

you guys are overlooking the reason he left. Besides the pot and all that other dumb crap he said.

The current coach is a joke he can't run an offense whatsoever. All he ever wants to do is run the ball, run the ball, run the ball. Meanwhile without an offensive line they can't get anywhere. Now coach promotes his friend as an offensive cordinator and once again they try to run the ball. Ricky is sick of it and didn't want to be injured. Think thats an cop-out? All of our other running backs are now on the sidelines injured. Our newest starter came from the practice squad.

Those who want him traded are simply seeking revenge. Which I understand as well. The guy left us high and dry. But think rationally here for a minute, whos gonna give us anything for this guy? We spent two first round picks on him, I highly doubt anyones offering anything close.

the way I see it is that he is now forced to play. Because of his fucked up contract he only made 6.6 mil during 2 seasons with the dolphins but now has to pay them 8.2 so he has to pay back more than he made. That's his own fault for having such a fucked up contract. But I can't see any way the the dolphins take him back. They are better off losing all their games this year, firing the entire coaching staff and taking a running back in the first round next year than taking him back after he turned his back on them.

I can see how he could come back and play for another team that needs a running back like my Raiders. I think players on another team would give him a chance but the players on the Fins won't

but I won't be surprised if he gets a 2-3 year contract and then quits as soon as he's made enough to pay off his debts and have some to live on.

He gets paid millions of dollars to run with a football.

Thats all he has to do. The rest is out of his control.

Show up and run with the football, that is as complex as it needs to be

I have no idea how Wannsted stays a coach for so long, he must suck good cock or something. They kept him with the bears for years and he never did a thing.

I agrree with you Ricky just wants to be involved with a team that has an entire offense, he can't handle or do it all himself.

Plus with his mental condition he does not want to be in the spotlight that much.

A team like minesota or philly would be good for him as they have a lot of stars and it woun't be all about him

I agrree with you Ricky just wants to be involved with a team that has an entire offense, he can't handle or do it all himself.

Plus with his mental condition he does not want to be in the spotlight that much.

A team like minesota or philly would be good for him as they have a lot of stars and it woun't be all about him

Wanny is the worst coach in history!!! Did you see my full page add I took out in the Miami Herald last year? lol

Can't wait to hear what Jimmy Johnson has to say about Ricky Williams wanting to come back.

Hope that dipshit pothead still has to re-pay the $8.6 millions if he returns.

That's pretty fucking funny...

16k to place an ad and bitch about a team. Now that's what I call being a fan.

Wannstedt is a joke, he's never done anything good, he does not know how to run an offense, or run a team, and worst of all does not know how to motivate his players.

yeah pretty stupid to fail a test when there's so many ways to cheat. I guess he's never heard of Tommy Chong's "urine luck".

The funny thing is the NFL only tests for weed once a year, and that is in the pre season. Many retired football players have stepped up and said they used it often during the season.

I am sure there are a decent amount of players in the NFL that use weed and other drugs, since they know they only test in the preseason.

The only players that are subject to frequent testing are the ones who have failed the drug tests before.

Lenny and I were chatting about this just the other day. At first I was in the camp that thought
a) What a prick for bailing right before training camp
b) He must be doing this because of drugs
c) He is an idiot

But as MickeyG pointed out, the Fins have THE WORST offensive line in the NFL. You think for a moment that fact was not clearly evident to Ricky? He had to know it way before it was apparent to us. He didnt want to have one year where Wanny says "Rickey x 30+ plays a game". He would have been beat to shit so badly that he would have been lucky not to have career ending injuries. Ricky went through this the first year he was with the Saints and he probably was getting deja vu and decided he had to find a way out of that mess.

I actually think now that his moves were somewhat crafty. Sit out a year, maybe get free agency through some deft manuevers or get traded. One thing is for certain, all the other NFL teams were probably looking like better options than the meat grinder Wanny was going to put him through.

Mickey, Rich, StIdes: Fuck Wanny... you guys are right about everythign you say about him. He sits on the sideline pouting. he has no head coaching skills or motivational skills at all. Man I can wait to get rid of him.

You said "thanks" about that newspaper column.. Whats funny is I still get fan mail from Finz fans today about that article... lol
