    This Biz And Partnerships

80% of them are doomed from the start .... don't bitch about them when they don't work out because going in you should have known the score - not saying don't do them, for many people they are a viable and sometimes only option and occassionally they work out well, just don't cry when they don't work out.

I agree. Whether it be with people you know or not. I've found any project I've become involved in that I did not have 100% hands on control and input failed in the end.

It's like that in any biz. Partnerships can be hard to maintain

yes i know but the nature of this biz makes partnerships even more of a crapshoot.

I agree Mutt. One of the main reasons for that is the mentality people have in this industry. There are alot of people that think this is the get rich quick biz and anytime a new idea comes up they think it's the next get rich quick solution. As a result I feel alot of people get into a partnership and expect to work alot less than is actually required. This has happened at least 5 times with us. Maybe it's because i'm an OCD freak and work around the clock, but each and everytime the other end of the partnership failed to produce and participate.

I have had many, many partnerships both adult and non and most worked out great. Some crapped out, some made big bucks, but I think the secret is that they weren't really partnerships, more joint ventures really, where each partner runs his own destiny (and is free to walk away anytime).

Thats the only way it works for me.

You have to structure them well, follow through to the plan, and work diligently to the objective.

Most all of my biggest and most successful deals have been joint venture partnerships. I'm a strong believer in maximizing brainpower and networking in deals. The more brilliant minds on the team the greater the likelihood you'll execute the best thought out strategies and see every angle. And with a team you get the advantage of expanded networking for everything you need to make it work well.

I have a dilemma I've been sitting on for a while that involves a failed mainstream partnership. My brother in law owes me 120K and its been about 7 years. I am so ready to sue...but have put it off as a favor to my mom in the spirit of family togetherness. I think I have passed the legal time limit to sue...and I am kicking myself for being the nice guy just because this A-hole married my sis.
