100 partnerships gone bad

Friendly agreement, from what I know of it. No contract.

Some ongoing decisions in certain projects can't be mapped out in a contract, they have to be made and adjusted and agreed upon on an ongoing basis. That's where problems can happen for any partnership, unless all parties are very easygoing and not control freaks.

And let's say that one partner has lots of money and wants to run expensive contests that the other partner, who has little money, is a little leary of...

...and then let's say that the smaller partner is equally liable for paying for these expenses, although that partner doesn't have any money and the current advertising revenue has not yet begun pouring in...

... and then let's say that smaller partner doesn't want to be in debt up to his eyeballs and so he asks his larger partner for a contract...

...and then let's say that larger partner does not like to be questioned because he's used to be in control so he tells his smaller partner to fuck off and have fun with his board...

Nothing was signed. There was no pre-existing deal. Cherry and Fletch had a board. Quiet wanted to become the next lensman so he invested some money. He wanted them to be minority (by a long shot) partners in their own board. They wanted a better deal. He told them to fuck off instead of talking.

I'm 100% convinced that losing money from the iBill fiasco and just getting out of the hospital is causing a normally-rational businessman to act irrationally.

Like I said...Bad business move. Been there, done that, and I'm still dealing with the bullshit with PIBCash because of it.

As for quiet's possible iBill issues....quiet does not appear to be a stupid person by any stretch of the imagination.....BUT...Perhaps he should have paid more attention to the writing on the wall instead of ignoring it. :2 cents:

We all make mistakes.

hehe. so true.

i have an email where fletch agreed to a payout structure. apparently once this board looked like it was going to take off (and i was in the hospital), they decided they wanted more money. this is before a single ad was sold. the rest is all spin.

i own the software they are currently running (vbul). i own the listing on board tracker. etc, etc... etc.

the money doesn't even bother me at this point (around 7200 USD at the moment). i'd like to see it come back to me, but i sort of doubt it ever will.

it was just amazing to watch someone you thought you could trust, change there minds AFTER agreeing to certain terms.

anyway, for the record - anyone i ever asked/begged/bribed to come post over on dm pm (and that would be several hundred people) - please know that i have absolutely nothing to do with that board/site anymore. i've never asked anyone for any favors in all my years in this biz, until this board. c'est la vie :)

it would be nice to get back my money. normally i would expect at least that much, but in this case i have no idea. but beyond that, i have no interest anymore. it is 100% theirs, i have no interest in being involved anymore, in any capacity. good luck with your board.

cheers.

now, who wants me to put their site in my sig for a couple of years, for free? ;)

u don't really sound as cut up about it as they'd have us believe. It's ok you're among friends, feel free to have a little cry..

KCat 10-05-2004 01:54 PM

If they're asking for more money & you're telling them to fuck off, I hardly see how that could be considered "locking you out". Sounds more like you didn't want to negotiate terms & slammed the door yourself.

Every partnership, or friendship for that matter, is going to have a few ups & downs. Why not try & work it out over a few beers?

So I have to ask.. why not pick up the phone and make a phone call instead of bringing this to the boards?

comprimise is key to any relationship..whether it be business or not.

I see no good coming from a phonecall. They both seem to agree to disagree and quiet said he wants nothing to do with it so it matters none. I've walked away from a many of deals from similar circumstances.

JSA Matt 10-05-2004 02:45 PM

What's the best that will happen, they pretend to be ok with everything? I've been through similar things too many times to count and for my healths sake it's best to never mention it again. ;)

Sorry to hear Quite. My prediction is it is a very bad move on their part. With this kind of apparent disloyalty the board won't do so well, and within a few months it will be Fletch, cherry and a few other regulars posting en mass daily. Could be wrong though.

Also, how bout that sig... ;)

irishfury 10-05-2004 03:17 PM

best of luck...sorry bout the biz deal gone sour...one of the few people thread I make it a point to read....:thumbsup
