DMOZ is a joke

The editors claim it takes up to two years to review a site..

I am sure none of their sites takes remotely that long to be indexed..

What kind of poeple volunteer to edit a category? Simple answer.. people who are marketing for profit in that catergory.

Eliminate the competition list your own sites with priority.. why the fuck else would somebody dedicate time towards it??

Your thoughts..

depends what category you are trying to get into. I got a site listed under bonsai trees as an experiment once. Only took a few weeks.

Now, if you are trying to get a porn site listed, the queue might be a bit long as I've heard there are a couple porn sites on the internet already.

Thats a problem thats been discussed in depth not only here but numerous other websites. The whole thing isn't rotten to the bone, but certain parts are. I think DMOZ is a great example of why money is a good thing.

this is why you want to be as specific as you can possibly be when submitting to DMOZ/

If it is a blonde. 18 year old midget with green eyes and patent leather open toe heels, you better not send it to the girls with penny loafers category.

Honestly.. it depends way less on the category and alot more on who edits the category

This is from my personal insight.. I could very well be wrong..

This is what I have gathered

Yep. Eventually that's what's going to happen to another 'open edit' site that is out there. Widely used.

They suck - end of discussion.

Waste of fucking time!!!!!! Useless, non-reposnsive.

Just end the damn thing and be done with it.

Google could have made them something and didn't - thank god!

They never, never answered my emails.

I've submitted mainstreamsites and porn sites. None listed.

Read all the bullshit rules three times++

Submitted sites multiple times over the YEARS!

Have I made myself clear yet?

Fuck, look at the #1 position on key words SERPs. Are they DMOZ listed?

Take the word PUSSY for example. Are any of those listed on page one of google DMOZ listed?

Google used to (maybe still does) list the DMOZ category....

Well if anything you get two pages with very high page ranks linking you with a DMOZ listing.

Not to mention all the small sites/SEs that use DMOZ for data
