How much does the "average American" earn?
$50k per year? So if he makes the same amount in 1 month, then he isn't poor.

the average adult webmaster makes probably $1.5k/month

you'd never know that by reading a msg board though :)

Hint from 1996 when it was EZ to make money and competition was a joke, we al worked together (wow the industry WORKED then!!)

I loaned multiple family members money, never got it back - I tolf them not to worry about it they insisted....

Let's see .......

Mom = $75,000.00 + EASY

Other family members = $80,000.00 + EASYYYYY

To dig them out of situations, only one I dont regret is my mom as I NEVER expected her to pay me back.. other family members I did at no interest even $25.00 - $50.00 a month to show good faith...

In other words if you want a no deductible charity, go for it - Otherwise steer clear it will cause MORE problems then good!

If you're pulling in $50K a month and your sister is working for 5 hours a day to earn $100 then I reckon you should maybe just pay her $200 a week or something and have her do something, anything so she doesn't feel she's taking your money, she'll feel she's earning it.

my family is earning enough money to have a decent life

however if they ever need something they can ask but i always give them nice presents

I prefer to help people achieve their goals. For example, my younger brother is interested in a career in photo journalism, so for his birthday I bought him $2000 worth of camera equipment and paid for 1 year at a photography school.

If their goal is running a business and they're passionate about it and they've created a business plan and everything is ready to go except that they need some start-up funds, then I would consider being an investor (note: not giving them money).

My point is, don't just hand people money, but consider giving them financial support to help them achieve their goals.

i think that is excellent advice.

ok. In my family my parents and my brother make really good money. I do study at the university but I decided to change my major and go to the university in Australia to study photography that is really my passion. So I asked my bro 4 a job to make some money and go there. Yep, It's tough and not really what I like 2 do. At least I feel better bacause of the fact that I don't just take monet from him I earn them reagardless the fact it's not a job I like. I just wanna say that if smb. in ur family need money, give him/her opportunity to earn them, not just give them money!

Daymare 10-02-2004 08:26 AM

50k/month... I'd say you're rich... for my standards anyway!

I think if you're making $600,000 per year, you're in the top .1% of the income earners, so you're loaded.

Kard63 10-02-2004 10:29 AM

Seems like you think they are too dumb to learn and dont want to try.

Give them money. Theres nothing wrong with that until you quit. Then they wont like you.

or

Buy them a conservative little business. Like a redneck bar that will never go out of business and never make a fortune. Then they can provide for themselves.

Eva and I give her parents and my mother a pension so they can live comfortably.

We also give her two brothers lots of odd jobs, like painting the studio.

My daughter refused any help from us.

beemk 10-02-2004 10:53 AM

handing them over a bunch of $ wont help in the long run. you might think you're helping them but you really arent. lending them money or helping them find work, etc is different though.

Peaches 10-02-2004 10:55 AM

I paid off my Dad's car for him but he didn't NEED me to do it, I did it as a gift. Unless they're under 25, everyone in my family has more money than me....even some of the kids do! :1orglaugh
