Did Kerry persuade any republicans here?

I didn't think so..

Maybe Bush persuaded some democrats? I doubt that too..

Then it really comes down to the undecided..

Any of you undecided make a decision after the debate?

Most people have made up their minds already. There would be a serious minority I imagine that would be undecided.

The debates were actually much better than I expected.

I don't imagine anyone who has supported Bush unconditionally throughout the last 4 years would be phased even if he had "uh-duh'd" through more of it than he did.

There is no question that public speaking is not his strength.

pollsters say that no one switched to bush, or undecided - but of the undecided, a few did see Kerry as the stronger of the two.

The debates can't hurt Bush, only kerry.

you know what Bush thinks, its kerry who has to explain himself. much more difficult.

a better question might be, did bush's pathetic performance cause you to decide to vote for kerry... or lean that way at least.

shrub was horrible.

Kerry came across as having a better grip on the topics: there were several times when Bush seemed to flounder. But neither did badly and Bush's gung-ho message is the one more naturally popular with most Americans.

I seriously doubt either side imagines such "debates" will sway confirmed supporters of the other camp. Come to that, the whole election extravaganza is just about persuading the 10% or so who are undecideds.

Makes you wonder if anyone has ever worked out exactly how much each of those votes cost...

The debates switched me from reluctantly voting for Kerry to actually being impressed enough by the man to volunteer my time for his campaign.

Kerry had his shit together last night, and I liked what he had to say.

There were a bunch of posts yesterday about how Kerry seems "too prepared", I still dont understand why thats so bad.

Why not?

I'm seriously asking this question. I hear Bush supporters, including members of my own family, say that Kerry can't lead or isn't strong enough or whatever. I don't understand it. I just can't see if from your angle, so please enlighten me.

He's been working his entire life towards being able to lead this country. He'll be fine.

Las Vegas polls after the debate have john kerry now winning 56% to 43% and this state is mostly republicans. I think its still early cuz they have 2 more debates but I dont think he did well at all and if he doesnt come on strong on the next debate kerry will win.

Bush is a Flip-Flopper :

Quote:
What you hear is not necessarily what you will get over the next four years.

Consider these words from then Texas governor George Bush when he debated foreign affairs with then vice-president Al Gore in October 2000: "Strong relations in Europe is in our nation's interest. If we are an arrogant nation, they will resent us. If we are humble but strong, they will welcome us.

"(Are) we going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not.Our military is meant to fight and win wars. And when it gets overextended, morale drops."
[b]

It is so flip-flop that Bush could be the employee of the month at McDonalds!!!

Nothing to loose because he is nothing!

Bush was just confused lookin throughout the whole thing.

Quite sad really. I love all the spin the major news sources are spweing. Thats where the real question is.

Why is the media so out of touch?

Its well known that Bush can't speak publicly very well, which fortunately is not directly related to running a superpower.

I don't like either one very much so its a real tough choice. I'm probably going to vote for Kerry on strictly social issues. They both have the same identical Iraq policy anyway, and it pisses me off that Kerry won't admit it.

So I would say, yes, the "debate" helped me make up my mind. for Kerry.
