How many of you have wasted degrees?

How many of you have a college degree but doubt ever getting a decent job with it?

My degree is in Biology. I no longer have interest in being a Doctor (vet) or working in a lab.

My Degree = Money Wasted (at this point in my life)

I studied economics for 6 years and walked away with a phd. Never intended to use it for securing employment (always knew I'd work for the family). I find the subject interesting and college life was great fun.

Actually, the degree doesn't mean anything, but what you do with the knowledge and the experience you accumulate. But I look at my computer science degree and remember all parties, and all the fun I had, and how I still had time to study and learn and come out on top. That is all the degree means to me, sniff sniff, I miss those wild parties.

ya school was fun, wouldn't say it was a waste but i put too much stock in school. should have dropped back on my course load and worked on business plans that i had.

you grow a lot in school, even tho you might not get a great education. does give you a base knowledge for future learning, more of a start than an end to education.

I have a degree in environmental sciences. I don't consider the experience a total waste, but the degree offers no benefit to my current career nor has it ever.

BA in Spanish, minor in political science... 2 years of mechanical engineering (I actually put that to use for a while).

Is it worthless? I'd do it all over again, so I've gotta say no... but I'll never get a job in Spanish teaching or translation with it.

Look at it this way...If you were hiring someone, even an unrelated degree would be more desirable than just a H.S. diploma...all else being equal.

B.A. in Journalism and Media Arts (Yeah, practically worthless but I am a producer)

I doubt any degree is ever "wasted" :-)

I'm the same, but don't regard that as wasted just because I never "used it" fully. I'd do it all again without hesitation.

An education does not mean ya have to get some "qualification" in a field and stay in that field the rest of your life. "Education" is a much bigger thing! :-)

Tho... it all depends on the person first - I can see plenty total idiots that have, or claim to, have a degree, but have absolutely nada sense or a clue about almost any subject.

I suppose the "education" part never rubbed off on them....

Didn't know you could get a whole degree in Java programming? ahmmm

If you have the java background, you should already know a ton of html.
