I got like $30 or something off of $30K, so it will probably come out to $100 for 100K, dont go blow it all in one place now.

for big cash owners, it makes really good profit
think you have 1m in the bank and then nearly 14k/month is yours
not need to work,nothing
an easy life
but ofcourse it's a problem to get the level of 1m

and hey ofcourse i know if you invest your 1m into a good solution which works you can even earn 50-60k/month but if you want just easy money, that's it

last year turkey had 25% inflation, so the $100 to $96 is more like $100 to $75

Still, 14% monthly would trump that over and over.

Edit: 14% a month would turn 100k into $480,000 in a year if you made no withdrawals.

Why is their interest rate so high?

no it's inflation,,,not deflation.

at 25% inflation it costs $125 for the same item that was $100 last year.

$100/$125 = .8 or 80%

So 25% inflation on $100 last year is worth $80 now.

Fred Quimby, yes it's inflation but i was reffering to the real value of turkish lira compared to US currency.

When inflation is high, investors request higher interest rate to lend their money due to risk. The govt usually borrows from the local banks with high interest rates and avoids to take loans from foreign banks. There is some profit to be made, but the margin is small if you see all the factors and the risk is there. Two years ago or so turkish lira was depricated big time within a day; which means if you had any profit it was gone for good.

do not speak for all of the Turks, man . . .
i dont wanna argue about it
i am a Turk
yes and i am currently working and worked with more than 300 affiliates for my program. they trusted me and now they are royal clients. if everyone could be like everyone then there would not such a thing like world.

most of the people thinks Turkish guys are all with beard, they have no girls, they are hungry for girls and all girls wearing black suits, not even people can see their face etc.
all of them are wrong
ofcourse there are such people but too little. dont mix the Turks with the Kurds

Exactly...
And not only that...
I think that those rates (e.g. 21% per year, 1.4% per month), aren't for USD, they are for Turkish Lira, so you will lose if you want to convert currency to Lira and after from Lira to USD (except, of course if you use black market)... So for small amount of money and short period you will not get enough money regarding to risk...

yeah
you earn this money in Turkish Lira ofcourse

100k$ worth of Turkish Lira can make you earn
2400$ worth of Turkish lira

it means with the Turkish lira you earn back you can buy 2400$ so you have no loss, and have a profit at all.

Turkish lira is so funny dudes
100k$ = 151,000,000,000 Turkish lira.
but thanks God that we are getting rid of these last 6 digits in the following months
so it wont be anymore funny

If you put in an ingdirect account at 2% a year you'll make around $2k in a year. I don't know how the interest compounds, but that's $166 a month if divided by 12.

From what I've read the banks handling Lira can go under at any time and 1 dip in the currency and you lose more than you earned.

I think I'll pass.

www.ingdirect.com

If you ignore currencies and only go on the %age, you'll make $US437.50 (5.25%) in a month. This account calculates interest daily and pays monthly, so it compounds. If you leave the account untouched for a year then the effective rate is 5.38%

This account is 'online' which means you transfer funds electronically. No fees so it's a true interest rate.

Money market accounts suck in the US as already mentioned. Better off putting it all on red.

we are talking about big banks here. not just offshore banks.
you put your money wait 1 month and you get the profit
u can withdraw the money anytime you want.

you know HSBC, it's a huge bank all over the world. even with using this bank you can have the same profit more or less

No fees so it's a true interest rate.
just came in my mind
it's 1400$ for 100k . the tax is already deducted.

How about naming some of the bigger banks preferably with websites that how such great rates in Turkey.

I used to know someone who invested in African banks, made a killing. But at the same time, he ended up losing a lot of money due to fraud of one of the banks he placed his money in.

Unfortunately I'm not fluent in Turkish. Do you have the url on their website where they quote 20% interest rates?

I'd like to run that page through a translation service.

http://www.finansbank.com

in 6 countries
big one also offers %20-22/year

to raster : about hsbc i did not search their site to check the interest rate page, i dont know if they have on their site
i work with Finansbank and they offer %21/year currently. not for USD ofcourse. for TL. but
if you calculate it (exchance etc) for 100k$ you can earn +-21k$ in a year.
in turkey usd curreny does not go up and down to much.
most of the banks here in Turkey offer nearly the same so i am sure HSBC offers something from %19 to %23

let me show you the example calculation.

Currently 1$ = 1.495.350TL (bank buys) /// 1.508.615TL (bank sells)

100k$ = 149.535.000.000
you put it in your turkish money account and then
wait for 1 month and they are going to add 2.116.432.356 extra money to your account.

let's see how much US Dollars can you buy with this 2.116.432.356

2.116.432.356TL / 1.508.615TL = 1402,89$ (tax deducted)

USD is going up and down between 1.350.000TL - 1.550.000TL for more than last 6 months.
