CNN hates to admit bush's loss

Not wanting to recognize their own online poll and speak the numbers on air - CNN is now saying, "Kerry won the debate on STYLE but not CONTENT!!!"

Nice way of putting a spin on things implying Bush knew what he was talking about more than Kerry - but Kerry at least looked pretty and spoke well.

Reminds me so much of the small core group of Bush supporters on GFY who refuse to admit much less see that he's fucked up US on so many levels and refuses to apologize.

    CNN Poll

    President George W. Bush 21% 97447 votes

Sen. John Kerry 72% 327333 votes

    Evenly matched 7% 31235 votes

    Total: 456015 votes

I just hope the average American puts more stock into the actual debate, than all of the subsequent analysis that's going on.

Neither side is gonna openly admit that they underachieved. All we're gonna see for the next two days is the spin doctors using the media.

It scares me to think that everything that Kerry accomplished last night is gonna get thrown out the window, just because the media is following up.

P.S. I haven't said anything kind about John Kerry prior to last night because the guy came across as so plastic and uninspiring that it was truly sickening. I felt his personality alone was gonna get Bush re-elected.

Last night however, like has been said, GWB got smoked.

If this was his STRONGEST issue, things can only get better for the Democrats.

i loved the sideways look Kerry would give Bush when Bush said some stupid shit

like the one time he never corrected himself and said of course Osama bin laden never attacked the us

he meant Saddam..but regardless both names devaluated his earler argument...lol

Keryy had a big grin on his face for much of last night

                      Good line

If that's truly how you feel though, I have to wonder if you watched the debate.

I've always LIKED George Bush. If it wasn't for Ashhahahahaha, and I was an American, he'd be my top choice.

However, last night he was freakin' terrible. Listen to the pundits all you want, but he was literally speechless a couple of times because he didn't know how to respond. All he could come up with, was the same sad statements over and over again. They work the first couple of times, but by the fifth and sixth time, you look like you have nothing else to say. Which he obviously didn't.

The best line I heard was from an email into CNN, "GWB went to a 90 minute debate with 35 minutes of material."

My belief is it was his repetitiveness that swayed alot of pollsters.

I honestly think either you misread something, or mistook me for someone else. Never have I spoke a kind word about Bush since his invasion. I'd be interested to see - but as you said, more than likely I was sticking up for someone who may have supported Bush, but I felt that whoever was trashing them may have gone to far. People have the right to voice their opinion, but when it comes to childish tactics and stubborn attitude - that even when the facts are provided they refuse to accept them, thats what I get upset - "just admit your wrong and move on"

as Kerry said last night in sorts, takes more of a man to admit hes wrong, than knowing he is and still putting action to it.

Kerry handled that debate very well. He's a good public speaker and has charisma ( ala herman munster but still charisma ).

Bush on the other hand is a fucking retard. He's better off just keeping his mouth shut. Or at least attempt to read the teleprompter instead of making up shit.

Four years ago, a plurality of debate watchers thought Vice President Al Gore, the Democratic nominee, had done a better job than Bush in the first debate.

But when the dust settled Bush was the one who picked up a few points in the horse race.

Gallup has asked the question about who did a better job in the debate in five previous elections, and in four of them the candidate who "won" the first debate did not win the election in November.

What gets to me is how people are pumping into the airwaves that "opinions change on who won 48 to 72 hours after a debate".

Excuse me? I dont think so kimosabe, lmao. Nice lube job though.

Try this. Turn off the TV for 48 to 72 hours and see if your opinion changes magically.

                                I'm guessing no. lol

You've read it, you can't unread it.

CNN is only two blocks away from our office. I'll let them know next time I eat in the food court. I see Wolf Blitzer eating lunch sometimes.

                                            Phoenix:

i loved the sideways look Kerry would give Bush when Bush said some stupid shit

like the one time he never corrected himself and said of course Osama bin laden never attacked the us

he meant Saddam..but regardless both names devaluated his earler argument...lol

Keryy had a big grin on his face for much of last night
I thought Kerry behaved very "correct" and avoided going over the top and doing a load of eye-rolling and grimacing like Bush.

He was succinct and not loaded with repetition to the degree Bush was.

Bush is definately at a disadvantage when he speaks. Unless he can made an original statement without the parrot rhetoric he usually has, - he will lose all the "debates". And showing some degree of annoyance does not help :-)

It's only my opinion, but I smell Kerry came out ahead overall - both on good presentation and content. He wasted few words.

They both fucked up on some points, but that is not unusual.

Although the "debate" is limited, or non-existant, as a debate, - it is a kind of "acid test" of candidates. The issue is "who is better" in a war scenario, is really a non-starter in real life.

It is actually easy to say "Let's roll" on a war - any asshole can do that. "Managing" a war is a totally different story and "creating a peace" is 500 times harder than declaring a war.

I'm inclined towards a leader who shows some "command", prescence, the ability to act quickly when needed and indications the "real man" is honorable and trustworthy. The actual "policy" is almost incidental - some shit ya agree with, some not - as long as it is made in good faith and for sound reasons under whatever circumstances.

Whether this Kerry image is the "real man" or a face, remains to be seen. If it is the real man (I suspect it is), - ya got a good guy there who is more than capable of leading the US - whether there is a war or not.

Kerry also clearly has more experience of government/diplomacy than the President - kinda obvious :-)

It is different for a wartime president people think it's unpatiotic to say anything bad against him. I say it's unpatriotic to let our soldiers die in vain...

I used to sit next to all those guys in the DC office, Frank Sesno (ass), Bob Franken (loves South Park), Wolf Blitzer (melloooowww) & a few other DC reporters.

Being the only PA to the entire executive producers desk was an insanely busy job. News never stops.

The best was Wolf Blitzer's coverage after the debate. I watched real coverage on PBS and CBC immediately after, both mentioned that Kerry clearly won and both mentioned the polls on the other websites we were talking about here (cnn, msnbc, etc). CBC even said that Fox pulled their poll.

Wolf had Karen Hughes from the Bush campaign, and some dude high up in the Kerry campaign. The Kerry guy was supposed to speak first, but his mic was down, you could hear the crowd behind him louder than him, and finally he just cut out. Wolf says something like "we're having technical difficulty, we'll go to Karen Hughes and then back to you". So they let Hughes blab on for 10 minutes about how great Bush did and how Kerry is a flip flopper, and then they go back to the Kerry guy. He starts talking (at half volume) for two minutes, but I guess he was making too good of a point even muted, so they cut him out again. Then Wolf drops one of the best lines I've ever heard on TV news, "we got the gist of it". It was fucking unreal, the gist of it? Not something like "we'll have to hear from him later", but "we got the gist of it". He talked for under two minutes at half volume and was cut out not once but twice in the middle of a point. How pathetic is this network going to get?

No wonder they expect the polls about the debate to "change" over the next 72 hours. People don't change their minds about something they saw with their own two eyes. The news networks are going to try to beat the American people into submission.
