Yes, I don?t know why people want to think the war with Iraq is a good thing, a war against terror. Most of out military and money is now tied to this shit hole for at least 5-10 years. Thanks bush!

Some think Bush attacked Iraq just to help stimulate the US economy.

Quite a change from his original stance...

While heading up the operation, he voiced his desire to keep going to B'dad and finish the job..

He had to apologize for saying it..

Yea, someone else has had a few changes of heart as well:

http://www.globalpolicy.org/socecon/...t/bore0314.htm

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...NGDJ80JAL1.DTL
"The president has said his priority is to block the spread of nuclear materials to rogue states and terrorists, and a verifiable ban on the production of such materials is an essential part of any such strategy," said Daryl Kimball, director of the Washington-based Arms Control Association. "Which is why it is so surprising and baffling that the administration is not supporting a meaningful treaty."

I don't have time to look up any more of his flip floppers, but I am thinking about spending more than a couple of minutes and compiling a list....

I pray that Kerry camp points this out during the debate....

Since the conflict with the insugents in Iraq still continues, it is hardly a failure at this point in time. That remains to be seen.

As for the Frank's quote, a complete, and I think "fair & balanced" discussion can be found here:

It will "continue" until we leave. That is failure. It's too late to 'win the hearts and minds'. We had a very brief window of opportunity and we blew it. Now we are occupiers. Saddam is gone, and soldiers with american flags on their sleeves are still shooting civilians in the streets. Our flying tanks are firing rockets into crowds. Our bombs are still destroying their homes. It is estimated up to 30,000+ dead; virtually every family would have suffered a relative being killed by an American. They won't forgive that. We have given their religious leaders so much material to work with there is no doubt who will control the future of Iraq. It doesn't matter what Americans believe; it's what the Iraqis think. Bush isn't fooling them with his delusional speeches. The goal, if not to find imaginary WMD, was to establish a pro-american government in Iraq. That is not going to happen now. We lost. The best we can hope for is to have the UN help arbitrate this in such a way that Iraq will feel it can benefit from the international community regardless of its animosity toward America. The alternative is Iraq will isolate themselves behind an islamic union with other theocracies in the region.

Gee, it is so nice to have an expert on geo-politics, terrorism, Islamic fundamentalism, military tactics (what is a FLYING Tank?)who can tell us how it is all going to end....when no REAL expert can.

And silly me, I thought the Iraqi citizens trying to join the police , military, and even little Iraqi kids going to school were being murdered by terrorists (from Iran, Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, Al-Qaeda & friends) using remote control car bombs , IEDs, rockets, mortars, and suicide bombers.

Oh, and bringing in our " friends" from the UN to solve the problem , thats a really good idea. Seems like some other "smart guy" has been suggesting that too.

I agree, there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that there will be a pro american goverment there.

Directfiesta, I believe we have had words in the past but I like your post....
Something we both can agree on.

They have a pro-American government in Afghanistan... because it was America that put it there. Friends of Bush will rule many countries if they have their way.

I didn't hear him say that he didn't want to go.

I heard him say that the UN never mentioned going in with their resolutions, and that other nations most definitely wouldn't have.

He never mentioned what he wanted to do. If he had said "I didn't want to go" then yeah... I'd say he was saying something different than what he had before.

I have to admit Afghanistan was done a little different and I was all for it. However I was lied too when Bush and Powell both told the whole world about the Al qaeda ties, and the massive amounts of WMD. He is a pathological liar. He doesn't know when to quit. We cannot afford another 4 years of Bush.

yes and yes...

the insurgency will stop as fast as the fighting between palestine and israeli has....

also, any country in that region, given freedom will vote in an Islamic government, which by it's nature is a theocracy....how does Bush & company plan on changing Islam?

A) What are flying tanks?

B) Of course we are still there. This isn't something that's gonna happen over night. You don't walk in, kick their ass, remove a government, hand the keys to someone else and say "good luck". How long did we occupy Japan for? Six years.
