Prison is punishment. It's not supposed to be fun or comfortable. They need to have nutritious but bland food, nothing but milk & water, NO T.V., no smokes, no candy, no personal property with the exception of personal hygiene items. Most prisons right now are more like dorms and don't really serve as an effective punishment or deterrent.

When you become a prisoner, your freedoms should be gone. You should not be able to dictate how you will behave. Violence from the inmates should be met with more violence by the guards and loss of even more freedoms instead of increasing the prisoners rights and privileges.

This is nothing new, Smoking was already banned inside of California State Prisons years ago. The only place inmates could smoke was out in the yard, all this does is stop that too

A lot of this type of mixing is due to lack of space. The prisons are bursting.

Thats why when I see all the panic about going to jail over a 2257 regulation error it makes me wonder where the fuck they would put all these people.

How is that a bad move on his part? He looses 1.3 million in sales taxes, but gains back a huge portian of the 280 million they are spending on tobacco related illnesses in prison.

yeah I'm for real. It's VERY EASY to get thrown in prison these days, and once you're in the system they never let you go. Any little thing you do is a parole violation and you're right back inside. The guards are just as criminal as the convicts. Parole boards are politically appointed and only grant parole when they need to clean out the prisons. The Penal system is the most corrupt venal institution in the US today.

Did you know we have more people locked up as a % of the population than just about any country in the world? Did you know that our prisons are already just about the worst in the world? No of course you didn't, because you get all your info from Fox News and you've never heard of Eldridge Cleaver.

Putting everybody in prison has never, in the entire recorded history of civilization, solved any social problem. It just allows manipulative politicians to convince stupider voters that they're anti-crime and they're doing something about it.
