Spam is getting out of hand.
How can you guys stay so calm? I get so pissed to dig through the fucking spam mails and messages every day. Whatever email account i open there is spam. Free sex, 4 dvd titles for free, want a HUGE penis? tried blahblahhost.com etc. etc. Then i come here and 30% of the new posts is from some moron who simply signed up to spam. This is really getting out of hand. 2 worst things on the net are viruses and spam! Sure, you should be able to announce a new site you made and i have no problems with regular posters making an anouncement about their new program which most of you probably want to try out. But Mr. X with with his first post "hey guys have you ever used this program: suckmydickandswallowCASH.com" now that pisses me off. Im not interested and when i come here to read something im forced to read this shit over and over again. For example this dude with his SE rankings, sure, maybe he does a good job but i dont have to read about in every new topic i click. Instead of getting my (positive) attention he just pissed me off big time and i want to shoot him instead of paying him.
Not to speak about the auto bookmarks, startpages and popups out of nowhere. Really if this board was mine there would be no second chance, everybody who uses his first post to spam...BAM! BANNED! Then these hosts who got my mail in mysterious ways. Sorry to burst your bubble, i already have my sites hosted and i dont care about your offers! I will NEVER use a host that spams me! And lets not forget all those affiliate program spam. exit programs, 50/50's , per signups. If you read their rules: they will kill your account immediatly if you get caught spamming. What gives them the fucking right to spam me? Your so against spam right? Bullshit! Well, what i simply want to say is: DEATH TO ALL SPAMMERS! |

Hah, spam and crabs must be a deadly combination. And spam is only useful if i get info about a new program from a sponsor that i actually use. And sure, announcements on this board can be helpfull but you know what i mean, theres difference between spam and SPAM

LOL! Spam eh? * grin * If you REALLY want to see who the spammers are, check the opportunity boards for the guys who either autopost or ( god forbid ) hand sumbit to those boards. Crazy stuff.
Or maybe, get a hotmail account, visit a lolita toplist and sign up for just a few " free porn " mailings... I have NEVER spammed gfy but, I do understand people that wanna get thier message across who have few resources to draw on. And, maybe YOU will never do business with a guy that gets all the attention he possibly can, but it's a dog eat dog world and I am all for success at any cost. LOL! Bet you'll love that! My 2 cents C-ya! |

Battuss,
i agree... my dick is big enough, i run porn sites so i don't need to visit any, i don't even own a house yet so why would i want insurance? i have a fucking dentist already, i'm not gay and thus not interested in gay content, and i know i haven't won any fucking prizes or trips so stop bullshiting me. how the fuck do i clean up my email boxes? can't i submit these emails to some kind of complaint department on the net and have them handle it? fuck, my own server almost got shut down once becuase one of my users emailed a guy twice concerning a traffic trade. that is nothing compared to the spam i get. |

Hone your sorting skills, man. When you get the snail mail, it's pretty easy to determine which letters are bills, statements, personal letters, etc. and which ones are completely useless spam. Email is even easier because you can automatically filter out most trash. And just by glancing at the headers, you can tell which emails are of any importance. I know they can be annoying, and many people on slow connections hate to wait the extra minute or so for all the spam to download. But really, is it worth getting that upset about? I mean hell, it's just advertising. Sure it's intrusive, but so is every other type of advertising in the world. You pay $4 for Time magazine, and the thing is still 60% SPAM! ;-) Pay $50 a month for cable, damnit, and 10 minutes out of every 30 is still SPAM! That's intrusive as fuck. Unwanted, unsolicited advertising slammed in front of your face in the comfort of your own home. But that's how they make they're money, and we accept it. I am in now way a spam advocate, but I understand how little progress is made by simply complaining about the problem.
I do understand the problems of adult related items landing in children's mailboxes...and I don't agree with many of the methods the some of these questionable companies go about getting their email addresses. But at the same time, I think the parents need to be looking out a little more, and to learn how to use the tools available to protect their kids from these things. There are always going to be disrespectful, money hungry parties trying to do whatever they can for a dollar. If we want good to prevail over these folks, everyone has to do their part, and use the tools that are available to do so. Just my couple of pennies on the situation ;-) ------------------ Dynamic Hosting - Dedicated Server Deals ICQ: 15898919 Cell: 301-467-6149 [This message has been edited by loster (edited 08-03-2001).] |

loster,
i completely agree with you. sometimes i watch by tv and think about how ridiculous is it to have all this fucking advertisement shoved in my face. those of us who own 50-60" tv screens have an even larger portion of their wall blasted with bullshit spam! but on the other hand, if there's a way to stop the email spam, or a place to report it to, let me know. i'm all up for stopping it. unlike 'tv spam' and how much money it saves off your cable bill, i didn't save any money on my internet to receive email spam. |

-------------------------------------------- Sure there is a way.Everyone just bitch more and more. Get governments involved. It's the worst thing that can happen.Once they start regulating things on the net they will never stop. [This message has been edited by Rose (edited 08-03-2001).] |

Rose, woah...
i didn't go that far. there was some reason why my server almost got shut down due to one of my users spamming on it... that same reason should be applied to all those responsible for whoever is spamming me. i'm not up for censorship, don't get me wrong. blocking spam isn't censorship. |

Rose got it right...once the government steps in to handle one thing, they quickly move to branch out & handle everything.
So we handle spam ourselves, filter it, block it, whatever. And in rare occasions, show up at their grandmothers house, pull down your pants & give her a eye-full. ![]() |

SPAM is everywhere around you.
TV, newspaper(did you ask for those big ads in third page?),junk snail mail, ad boards by the highways.Whole idea of advertising is based on "SPAM". And if you think those TV and Newspaper ads dont cost you anything think twice |

i think rose is right too, i also don't want the government to get involved in regulating the internet too much. but isn't spam already illegal?
