Think about the work which would go into that! You'd not only be cutting at the ends but also shaping the boards as well at the ends.

I guess it would be pretty difficult in the corners but outwith that maybe pretty simple.

Interesting idea. Don't think I've ever seen that done before.

Mine runs front to back.

Sleazy, are you doing your kitchen in wood/clickboard as well?

i would probably hate that but not sure, sort of an optical illusion that could be cool for a minute but hard to "live" with in the end *shrug*.

diagonal
It looks cool.. I did it in my first house and as long as you have enough floor space it looks great... I would not do it in anything smaller then a 12x12 room though.. just looks to busy for some reason.

As for time... its not bad... the cutting is not the issues as much as lining up and fitting the thung and groove. Thats a bit more a hassle, but not bad. I did it in a 24x18 room and it looked awesome. I did a frame around the walls (about 8 inches) of just straight boards then diagonaled the main area.. Turned out great and didnt take much more time or hassle then laying it staight.

However, its all about the finsh.

I've seen it done a few times, more work but looks great.
I wouldn't plan on doing it yourself unless you're REAL handy.

Oh and use real wood not that laminate crap unless you get lots of changes in humidity in your house/climate.

The parquet look (12x12) also has quite a distinctive look.

I've seen it done, Sleazy. Looks nice too! The house I saw it at had them switch flow at the door 'sill' *don't know if it's the right word*

I've also seen a few hardwood floors with designs made with the wood . Nice choice BTW

Don't you hate when you come up with an idea and find out someone was one step ahead of you by 4000 years. I hate that.

Me too, this last year, I had come up with about 5 really cool idea, then you do your search, and someone either has the patent and is sitting on it waiting for someone else to make it so they can collect on it, or its out there.

Pisses me off.

I think you idea is cool for a modern style home.

Yeah I was just thinking that after I posted this.

I reckon you should go for it, if it looks daft then redo it if its not too expensive.
