Problems with Internet connection after reformat...

After my other computer was basically taken over by spyware, we reformated it to wipe everything clean. The computer is working perfect, but we can't seem to get the Internet connection working. I'm running on a cable connection through a router to 3 computers, 2 of the 3 computers pick up the connection and are running fine. It's the third, reformated computer that is causing problems.

Any ideas what's wrong?

reinstall the drivers for the ethernet card
use a diff cable and try pluggin it into a diff port in the router.

lastly, make sure the cable is plugged in tight :-0

is the ip 169.254.4.69 ? it might be using autoconfiguration IP. i had this problem when i tried to connect using a weak wireless signal.. the dhcp timesout and the autoconfiguration IP kicks in and gives u an IP on that private LAN.

i said fuck the wireless, and hard wired it to the router and the DHCP server is able to give it an IP address automatically

try giving it a static ip within the range dhcp assigns

How do I refresh and renew the IP? The cable guy told me to do it to my main computer when I was having problems and it cleared everything right up.

Otherwise I'm thinking it's a driver problem. I'm damn sure we used every setup disk when we reinstalled everything though, is there a way to download the drivers online? I could download them to a disk from this computer and then put them on the other computer.
