If he plans on quitting cold turkey - HE HAS TO SEE A DR. or he won't be able to handle it. It's just like herion, people can die from the withdrawls.
If he doesn't want to see a Dr. then slowly drop the doses he is taking over a 3-4 week period. (This method makes it a lot harder to quit)
I do not suggest having him drink coffee or pop energy pills.... if it was cocaine/meth maybe that would help I dunno ..
He is going to want to sleep a lot, let him! Don't give him coffee .. he just needs to eat and sleep... getting him wired through this process would only make it harder to sleep.
I know a lot of people addicted to pain killers and oxy cottin is by far the worst.
My friends little brother Over Dosed on oxy cottin (shooting it) and died.

Finally, someone who has a partial clue as to what he's talking about.
Oxycodone is the chemical behind the brand names OxyContin, Percocet, Endocet, Roxicet, etc. It's an opioid:
Quote:
opioid
1. Any synthetic narcotic not derived from opium. 2. Indicating substances such as enkephalins or endorphins occurring naturally in the body that act on the brain to decrease the sensation of pain.

There are worse things than oxycodone, and its alsot not "synthetic heroin" being that heroin(acetyl morphine) is a semi-synthetic opioid itself.
Fentanyl(propanamide) is many times more potent by weight than morphine and heroin. It is absorbable through many means including transdermal, oral, injection, breathing in gas, etc. It is this chemical the Russians used in aerosol gas form when that movie theater was taken hostage a year or 2 ago. It killed 2 hostages for every terrorist.
