What many of you fail to understand is the full potential of this domain. You're wasting time wondering if he really bought it or not. Who cares? If it's under his control and he has exclusive rights to market, develop and license it... that is an amazing and unprecedented accomplishment. Do you think he's worried about immediately recouping his investment? Perhaps he's thinking LONG-TERM... 5, 10 years down the road. Even though KRL chose to develop Men.com, he could (and maybe already did) sell slices to investors and/or get funding from VC & Angels in a heartbeat. The domain has international appeal and marketability. The day he decides to launch the final product, he will most-likely receive plenty of free publicity world wide from every newswire service and news network.

If the site doesn't live up to his personal expectations (that's all that really matters) he could always flip the domain to many companies, i.e. Felix Dennis (Maxim,Stuff,Blender) who plans to launch a new TV channel called:
Maxim Entertainment Network aka MEN.

But why would he waste time just simply selling a domain of that caliber... when you can add some meat to the bones and find a large suitor to acquire your company... or pursue other liquidity events, i.e. IPO. I believe he knows what he is doing and those that can not comprehend it also have no concept of mulit-million dollar paydays. He's not looking to cash out for 7 figures, if I were him I'd be waiting for a 8-9 figure exit strategy. I don't think he's trying to be a "Player", with a business like Men.com, he can reach Tycoon status in a relatively short time.

KRL can put Men.com on his business card, what can you haters put on yours?

nuff said. good night.

Thanks very much for your post Taboo! Deeply appreciated!!!

And right on the money! :Graucho

Glad to see i was right in that you have had some good offers. Just a heads up, look at the numbers for a maxim or FHM. They are losing sales not gaining them. Those guys get a lot less page views then thehun.com and they have tons of overhead.

If there is not an interest in remaining on the site for "Interests" sake there is no point in having it.

You need "Fans" of Men.com. In all honesty thats gonna be hard to pull off to a world wide audience.

Might I reccomend you break it apart by nationality.

I mean c-mon, you popping me like CNN with a ghey window with search results.

Who the fuck cares about search results when you need LOYALTY.

At this point I really do not think you get it.
Who cares about redirects, drive interest.

If people can charge fucken 35.00 permonth for membership for interest why the fuck can't men.com get them bookmarks?

Thats a clue for you my Multi Millionaire friend.

dude..

i remember a long time ago, in a thread called "pay it forward, gfy style" where you give the person above you something useful.. i gave the person above me a custom IE embedded toolbar, and i was supposed to get my choice of domains from you.. I REALLY wanted iAlien.com - and we chatted about it, i never got it :(

it seemed like such a fun domain to make into a PPC SE or something

I bagged ialien.com from Voodoo!
Don't tell me you are still upset about that?
What up with College Fuck Fest or am I missing somthing there cuz I am at ground zero.

I still got the shirt "I had 7 Orgasms!"

Are they really losing money now?

Last I knew a few years ago Maxim was THE largest magazine (not just men's magazine but largest period). It wouldn't surprise me though if sales were declining. That's a tough market and it's like most other markets these days.

Do you have a link? Wouldn't mind reading up on their numbers.

They're private, so no revenue stats, but readership is at a record high, they just launched a satellite radio show, and they're expanding into asian markets.

Thanks, will check it. The page keeps freezing for some reason. Too bad no 3rd party stats.

Did any of you see the 60 minutes story on the owner? A really eccentric fellow. Astonishing how an older guy like that was able to tap into the minds of young men and that's why Maxim has outdone GQ by miles.

My comments were directed at the fact men.com has no real established "meat."
I guess it just pisses me off that I see 1000ADS but nothing to really eat after my many revisits.

Yes, I do want to loose weight and Yes I do want a bigger penis ... but is that all I want?

What it boils down to -- there was no bashing/sigwhoring from my part. Just random babbling out of confusion + (that applet you guys had up locked up my browser on multiple occasions)

I also understand it's not our business, but remember who was responsible for starting the hype around here! You might also want to link the non belivers to those threads started by you to shut them up.(Who the hell holds a header contest for something he does not own?)

When you ask - "And who exactly are you?" -- is this some sort of attempt to look down on me? I don't believe I bashed you in any shape or form, so please keep that in mind. Never know when paths will be crossed.

Respect flows on a two way street, with many intersections. I could care less about how big your portfolio or bankaccount is.

... after following the sale and the developement of the domain men.com it's only fair to ask such a question.

not comparing to the KRL situation, but I sold a domain for over 7figures (cash) and the company never did anything substantial with it. That was over 3 years ago. maybe it's still in development (?) but it's no longer my business and they can launch it or keep it under wraps. Even though I own a tiny stake in whatever they choose to do with the project, I realize it's none of my concern, and I have no right to question their logic, strategies, business plan, etc... just like Men.com is NONE OF OUR FUCKING BUSINESS.

Did KRL screw you over somehow? Did he not incorporate your uchase program into Men.com? Did he not reply to your emails? Is that why you're bitter?

I was planning on using your uchase program as 1 of my search partners when I launch a few sites next year (i.e. Official.com, Curious.com, SearchOnline.com, etc) but due to your ranting & fake drama, I have decided to reconsider. While "I" may not matter to you because my sites are still under the radar, how many other people reading this thread will feel the same way I do and think twice before working with you?

I'm here to network and do business. How does "calling someone out" on GFY by questioning their private deals reflect on YOU and YOUR business?

Think before you post. :2 cents:

Yes, tell me how it is BS again? You, Mr Levy, are part Jewish (as you have said yourself) and prior to that piece of knowledge becomming public you constantly proclaimed how much smarted Jews where than regular Goyim. Furthermore, at the same time as promoting a seemingly left-wing and compassionate perspective you have openly supported Zionist points of view when it comes to Israel. I don't intend on replying to whatever bullshit spin you can muster, and I don't care for you at all, but the sheep should at least have a chance to see what the glorious, compassionate, and oh so 'anti-racist' Kevin Ryan Levy is all about.

KRL, I have a unique take on this sale, but I'm not like the random drive-by haters in this thread, so don't lump me in with them.

The one thing I'll say, with respect, is that if you create the biggest and most publicized domain sale of all time, and you go out of your way to let the world know about it, AND you reap the traffic rewards of it, AND all the inflation of the domain's value post-sale, you have to expect that people will ask questions. Publicity is a double-edged sword.

I really think you're taking this thread the wrong way. People are interested in the site, because you and Rick asked them to be. You used the media to tell your story--now you have to deliver.
If you made your money in private like I do, you'd have the right to tell them all to fuck off. Instead, you should be thrilled people give a shit enough to give you feedback. Use it and build a great site.

One more thing: I tell the truth. It's in my blood. I also respect people who build things. I respect Rick's accomplishments, but I've never been a fan of him personally. I know already that you are different than him in tone and style, so you won't flip out when I give you the straight goods.

Thank you Dr. Obvious, but I already pointed out that you won't care about losing me as a client. Even if you & Slavik have settled the matter, it should show you that it's time for you to MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, literally. KRL, let me tell you something about myslef. I am as much a genious as rick schwarz is, but like your friend rick I was at the right spot at the right time a long while ago. rick decided to buy domains, I decided to spam searchengines. from 96-01 me and my partner dominated the searchengines.

i am not a genious, if I was I'd still be working the SEs, although my 4 year old setup still generates 50k uniques SE traffic per day.

I also understand that most domain guys treat domains like real estate, allthough real estate will still be real estate in 25 years, a domain may be a usless piece of cyberjunk.

I am not using you for sig views.
