But to answer you 5.5 mbit is the highest residential line I have ever heard of. 3mbit is definitely the most common.


If you want to go comercial there is no limit. It might take 2 months to install but you could get a 100mbit line.... if the price was right.


EDIT. 3bit is about 375KB/second. Also, most cable modem providers cap their upload at 10% of the DL :(

the max theoretical speed on cable is 37mb/s


..so you'd need like 25 lines

I'm on a capped 1.4mbps line. It sucks.

There is also VDSL in the US and Canada

doubt you'll find much faster without paying $$$$ for it

I've just ordered 24mbit adsl2 to my home for $50 per month. And i live in a small city so it's abit after the larger places where you can get 100mbit fiber at home for like $40/month.
