hotlinked?
Ive have a raq3 ded. server and normally im using 2 gigs a day on the site in question.
Today, when i woke up i got a system mail telling me the site: is very near or over the disk space limit allocated on the Cobalt server. Once the quota limit is reached, no more data can be stored. Consider moving some data to another location or increasing the limit. Quota Limit: 200.00 MB Quota Used: 347.15 MB Percent Used: 173 % And the bandwidth went from 2 gigs to 7 gigs in 1 day while i didnt touch anything. Am i being hotlinked or what could have happened? |

there has been placed extra content on your server i don't think someone could do that without having full access.
hotlinking could explain the 5 extra gb's but not the extra mb's... In other words your fucked ![]() ------------------ Make money at the speed of light! Unknown conversion ratios! [email protected] 77717734 |

If you can still get full access start by finding the files that aren't yours and delete them and install htaccess

there is a way you could use this amount of diskspace - check your access.log and error.log files - i´ve seen access.logs with more than 1 GB !

go check the logs.
and set up htaccess i never had the opportunity to check out how the cobolt server work but i'm sure its "kinda" simular to regualr unix-base servers. maybe you should switch to a unix-base server.. its prolly more flexiable.. i can find you rates cheaper than the hosting you currently have. gimme an msg via icq if you need any help with anything. 112626888 |

Hey whoreans, if i setup an .htaccess what does it do?
Does it prevent people from hotlinking a picture or will it block all domains except my own that are linking a gallery? If you know what i mean. Can someone give me good .htaccess code. Ive seen so many different ones and i dunno which one to use. And in what dir should i place it? www.mysite.com/htaccess or www.mysite.com/gallery1/htaccess Thanks. |

These people telling you to install htaccess are wrong. What it looks like happenned was that you were hacked, and someone is now using your server to store and serve something - almost certainly warez. Talk to your sysadmin, get them to change the passwords. Also, look through your directories and find what it is that is being stored.
Of course, you also should always have your content protected by htaccess. Cheers, Backov ------------------ AVSBlitz - Build AVS Sites Faster and Better |
