Population overload will be a problem before warming is. I think they'll find that the warming is cyclical just like ice ages.

The Nova show seemed to point to it just being a cycle thing. They were doing ice cores that were really old and that pointed to a set of warm-cool cycles. It won't happen in our lifetimes but what are people going to do in the future when the inland seas start again? All the warming is melting the ice caps and it will be flowing back to where seas were before. Especially around the large lakes and coasts in the different parts of the World.

The San Fernando Lake?! The Ohio Sea?!

I had a biology class where the prof scared the hell out of me. Apparently the hottest 10 years since the ice age happened in the last decade.

I know the average summer temp used to be 75-80 here, now it's 90+ all summer long (and most of spring. Hitting 100 used to be a really big deal, now it happens a couple times a week.

The last glaciers ripped through my area about 12,000 years ago. I thought we were on borrowed time as far as being due for another Ice-Age? Thought I read that somewhere.....

Gemini what where you smoking when you watched that Nova show? The world's Co2 level is already a third higher than ever in recorded history, half of the world's coral reef's have already died and the glaciers are in full retreat. I don't think you payed any attention to the scientists on the show who weren't on the big oil payroll.

I watched the same show and It all pretty cut and dry: Fossil fuel = Co2 = Greenhouse.
Just wait until China, India, Brazil and Indonesia start burning like we do, then your gonna see Waterwolrd without Kevin Costner.

If there are any George Carlin lovers out here, you should download "the earth is just fine" and listen to it, it is very good.

I think a lot of statements sound pretty convincing, I am not sure what the hell is going on. I lean towards the cycle thing and assume there will be another ice-age in some time.

Hey, it looks like we are screwed. It looks like it boils down to this:

1) The earth may or may not be experiencing a dramtic .6 degree C increase in temperature in the last century. I tend to believe the pro warming side on this.

2) It should have and gas levels that would predict this ARE on the rise.

3) Even if we stopped using all fossil fuel today - we could increase by as much as 6 degrees in the next 100 years.

Buy houses on high land to be safe - my advice for the afternoon.

Even if Global warming doesn't get us - you will be safer from floods and any asteroids that hit the ocean.

The global warming is a fact. The real issue lies in the causes: natural or artificial.

Well the US Wouldn't sign the land mine treaty either.

The US has no problem making out other people to be the bad guy when they won't comply...
