Yeah I agree with Snow.
P4 is too much a good value to pass up.

Ive had the P3 and the Athlon and the P4 all within the last year, and the P4 is the best..

HP makes a nice P4, I got the 1500 MhZ 384 mb RAM, and it is real real nice.

I had a 1000 mHz Athalon Compaq 384 MB RAM and it really didnt compare.

Dont give into the hype that some of these chips have problems cause they ALL had problems during their initial distribution...

P3 had problems with heat, but it was fixed, the Athalon had problems and was recalled to be fixed and the P4 was pulled from stores in a recall but has also been fixed.

So dont fall into some bad hype that one of these chips suck, cause they are all good and have all had their share of problems that have been fixed..

But the P4 is the best, and I personally like HP's more than compaq's or Dell.

If you get a P4, be sure to get as much memory as you can get your hands on and you will be able to really tell the difference.

OK very cool Bros, I think I'll go with the pentium 4 and get like 512 ram, and 100 gig hard drive..cd burner etc.. all the bells and whistles..I have a brand new 19" monitor, and awesome surround sound system.. so its really the main puter I need. Thanks for the honest opinions..

i picked up the sony vaio 'digital studio' came with 1.7 GHZ, 384 ram, 80GB drive, 100$ rebate, free photo printer, AND they threw in the gigapocket vid recorder for free, im loving this thing!

Geeez, no P4 for Christ's sake !

In a few months (at the end of this year) Intel will come up with a new platform for the next-gen PIVs and thus you won't be able to upgrade...

But actually it doesn't really matter what you get - it's obsolete in notime...
